UNESCO is actively involved in the Global Partnership for Education- Education Sector Program Implementation Grant (GPE-ESPIG) program. The primary objective of the GPE-ESPIG program is to ensure that the most marginalized children, including those who are out-of-school or at risk of dropping out, gain access to quality learning opportunities. These opportunities are crucial for them to acquire relevant skills, build resilience, continue their education, and enhance their overall well-being. The GPE-ESPIG program consists of three key components:
• Access: The program focuses on facilitating safe and equitable access to learning for children and youth in Myanmar.
• Quality: The program aims to ensure quality teaching and learning experiences for children and youth in Myanmar. This involves strengthening the capacities of education personnel and fostering context-responsive, equity-focused learning resources and modalities that adapt to the evolving situation.
• System Strengthening: The program places emphasis on strengthening systems, management, coordination, and monitoring related to education in Myanmar.
As the Grant Agents (GAs) for this initiative, UNESCO, in collaboration with other national and international partners, will work collectively to ensure that children and youth in Myanmar re-engage in quality, meaningful, inclusive, and gender-responsive learning. It specifically focuses on creating safe and protective environments, with a particular emphasis on supporting the most vulnerable learners.
To achieve these initiatives, UNESCO Myanmar is looking for an Individual consultant to provide the programmatic support to the implementation of the project activities under in-service teacher education.
Under the overall authority of the Director of UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok (hereinafter called UNESCO Bangkok), the direct supervision of the Head of UNESCO Antenna Office in Yangon and day to day supervision of Project Officer, the Individual Consultant will perform the following tasks:
• Support quality assurance of the course contents, blog posts, recordings/videos of the content, and translated materials, documents and contents;
• Provide the support for the online modules development process and online course creation at e-learning platform which includes uploading the materials onto the e-learning platform and creating/ editing the quiz and testing the online courses;
• Prepare and organize the virtual or face-to-face trainings/workshops/webinars for the implementation of project activities including the logistical and administrative support;
• Participate and/or facilitate in the virtual or face-to-face trainings/workshops/webinars and provide the necessary support;
• Follow up and communicate with the participants and beneficiaries of the activities to ensure timely and smooth implementation of project activities;
• Manage the private Facebook groups/Professional learning groups and regularly update with activities and announcements;
• Provide informal translation of English-Myanmar or Myanmar-English for project-related documents including public communication materials, articles, documents and blog posts in the activities organized;
• Provide support in monitoring of project activities, including data collection, analysis of data, and updating of the data;
• Explore strategies to increase the number of active users within Professional learning groups;
• Monitor group engagement and encourage participation, discussions, and knowledge sharing among Professional learning groups members;
• Participate and contribute at the weekly meeting and provide the updated information;
• Keep an up‐to‐date, daily record of the work online and make it available for UNESCO to oversee the progress; and
• Undertake any other activities as requested by the Head of Myanmar Project Office.
DELIVERABLES AND TIMELINE:
All deliverables must be submitted with original, editable files, as well as high‐resolution versions of final products (if applicable) to the responsible officer;
1. Progress report on the achievements and challenges encountered in delivering the outputs related to the work assignment with translated communication materials, articles, documents and blog posts by 31 July 2024.
2. Progress report on the achievements and challenges encountered in delivering the outputs related to the work assignment with translated communication materials, articles, documents and blog posts by 30 August 2024.
3. A final report summarizing the activities carried out, achievements, challenges and lessons learnt over the contract period with translated communication materials, articles, documents and blog posts by 30 September 2024.
Education and experience:
• At least Bachelor’s degree or equivalent at an accredited institution in education or a related field;
• A minimum 2 years of relevant work experience; and
• Excellent organizational and communication skills to interact effectively with different team members, and stakeholders.
• Master’s degree in a related field;
• Familiarity with common office ICT productivity tools;
• Intermediate proficiency in written and spoken English;
• Experience in translation and in the education field and/or training provision;
• Initiative, self-motivated, and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; and
• Working experience with International Organizations, UN agencies, INGOs and NGOs.
