The Women, Peace and Security and Humanitarian Action programme of the Regional Office for Arab States work closely with United Nations, government, and civil society partners to increase the implementation of Security Council Resolution 1325 and the inclusion of gender in Humanitarian Action. UN Women has been working with governments, UN partners and civil society to support women’s participation and influence at all levels of decision making to prevent and resolve conflicts in the Arab region and to ensure regional coordination on gender inclusion in humanitarian action.
Reporting to Women, Peace and Security and Humanitarian Action Regional Advisor, the hired translator will support in the translation of programme documents from English into Arabic and Arabic into English, as requested. The programme documents include, programmatic documents, such as briefs and talking points, knowledge products and communication products, related to women, peace and security and humanitarian action.
Description of Responsibilities/ Scope of Work
Throughout the duration of the contract, the consultant is expected to perform the following indicative tasks:
Specific assignments will be determined based on programmatic needs.
Under the retainer modality, the supervisor and the consultant will negotiate and agree in advance on the expected number of days necessary to carry out a specific assignment. Each assignment will be considered completed after the supervisor’s approval. Payments will be processed on a monthly basis depending on the number of days worked.
