Position Overview:
WRI India is seeking a Senior Project Associate for a range of Integrated Urban development program responsibilities in India. With his/her knowledge of the sector, the candidate will support the vision of WRI to support the implementation of sustainable development for our cities.
WRI globally, has deep experience in the sector and is widely recognized as a leader on sustainable development. In India, we have a multi-pronged urban development strategy that looks strategically at directing our tools, research, expertise, and partnerships in ensuring sustainable on ground change.
Responsibilities:
The Senior Project Associate, Integrated Urban Development will undertake and oversee a range of responsibilities for the Integrated urban development team as listed (but not limited to) below:
Research and Project work
- Conduct desk-based research including archival research, develop analytic summaries.
- Handling, analyzing and visualizing research datasets
- Support project related tasks/activities develop material for stakeholder engagement.
- Working on range of projects and research related to public spaces, street safety and design, nature based solutions, wayfinding and signage etc.. with focus on adolescents.
- Development of technical guidelines, presentation, notes etc.
- On-ground Site Surveys, Technical support during implementation of urban design projects with key focus on streets and public spaces. Post implementation monitoring and evaluation of impact as per requirements.
Project Management:
- Develop innovative workshops, activities, documentation, and evaluation techniques which are adaptable to different focus groups.
- Prepare/ Helping in preparing/writing project reports, technical presentation, capacity building modules, research reports, technical blogs, outreach material for engaging with stakeholders in government, business and non-government sectors and any other relevant and appropriate deliverables.
- Monitors program/project performance against contract requirements
Grant Management
- Potential opportunity scouting, fund raising and proposal development for future projects.
- Support the drafting of grant proposal budgets and assist in the collection & submission of formal proposals for all grants.
- Support proposal documentation packaging for review and/or final distribution.
Communication and Partnerships
- Coordinate, schedule and document meetings regarding projects among team and with external partners
- Organizing and documenting workshops, conferences and other consultation and dissemination activities
- Liaising with external partners and WRI colleagues across programs and countries as per requirements.
- Coordinate outreach efforts on behalf of program/projects and support partner engagement activities
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education
- Degree: Master level degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Urban design, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
- Any additional qualification on anthropology, sociology, child and adolescent behavior would be considered as an added advantage
- Software proficiency:
- Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop
- Google SketchUp Pro
- ArcGIS, QGIS
- AutoCAD
- MS Office
- App/ website development through coding or using suitable platforms (candidate with this skill set will be preferred)
- Language proficiency
- Besides English and/or Hindi, knowledge/proficiency in Odiya (speaking, reading and writing) is required.
- Competencies/ Abilities required
- Candidates with work experience in Child and adolescent friendly environments would be preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in carrying out literature reviews
- Qualitative and quantitative research experience
- Flexibility and adaptability to work across different time zones and cross-culturally
- Experience of developing indicator frameworks, such as used for evaluations
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Strong oral communications skills
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as part of a team
- Ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner
- Ability to work calmly and enthusiastically under high pressure
- Ability to think creatively
- Highly responsible, self-motivated
- Good sense of humor
- Extremely well organized, reliable, and efficient
- Interest in programmatic learning and excellent writing skills are essential to the position.
Location: Bhubaneshwar, Odisha
Start date: At the earliest
Potential Salary: 6,50,000 INR CTC PA
Salary and Benefits:
Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.
Duration: 1 Year (Extendable upon performance / Project requirements)
