JOB DESCRIPTION

Org. Setting and Reporting
These positions are located in the United Nations Field Peacekeeping Operations, Special Political Missions, Service Centers and Offices as applicable. The incumbent of the post carries out all recruitment, administration of entitlements and other HR related functions for both international and national staff in the mission, including the outstations.
Responsibilities
The incumbent is expected to work within the confines of Staff Rules & Regulations, ST/SGBs, ST/AIs, ST/ICs, Human Resources Handbook and other approved standard operating procedures. The incumbent is not expected to deviate from these guidelines.

Work Experience
A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in human resources management, administrative services, or related area is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to one (1) year for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position(s) advertised, fluency in English is required; and [‘fluency’ or ‘knowledge’] of French is [‘desirable’ or ’an advantage’]. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Special Notice
The United Nations Secretariat maintains rosters of qualified and available candidates to fill anticipated job openings in peacekeeping operations, special political missions, and other field operations. The purpose of this job opening is to generate a list of qualified candidates for inclusion in the [roster name, level e.g. Chief, Geospatial Information Officer, P-4] roster. The entire assessment process takes an average of six months; all applicants will be notified in writing of the outcome of their application (whether successful or unsuccessful) within 14 days of the conclusion of the process.
