JOB DESCRIPTION

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Port Sudan, Sudan.

As Head of Project EU you will be responsible for implementing an EU project on Enhancing Food Security and Resilience of Rural Communities in Red Sea State, Sudan.

Your project objectives will be:

1. Sustainably Increasing productivity and profitability of smallholder agriculture and livestock nutritious short value chains using agro ecological practices adapted to climate change in Red Sea

2. Increasing income through access to value chain development, marketing for small agri businesses and cash for work

3. Increasing equal and sustainable access to natural resources in order to contribute to food security and mitigate conflicts and allow the voluntary return of conflict-displaced people to Red Sea State

Your responsibilities

  • Carry out the project according to the rules and standards of the EU, WHH, as well as in compliance with the Core Humanitarian Standards
  • Prepare key project documents, e.g. procurement plan, M&E plan, quarterly internal reports and reports to donors
  • Ensure that all project expenditures are made in line with WHH’s financial and procurement policies and procedures
  • Manage the project team and all activities related to the project
  • Implement appropriate teaching and learning strategies, orientation mechanisms and lessons learnt/work plans to deliver content to target audiences
  • Ensure knowledge management and communication

Your profile

  • A university or college degree in a relevant field
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in managing EU funded multi year projects
  • Experience in implementing EU funded projects and the Nexus approach
  • Proven experience in implementing large scale livelihood/development projects
  • Regional experience, ideally in Sudan
  • Excellent coordination and organisational skills, including ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work in an insecure environment and commit to strict security regulations
  • Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for working in Welthungerhilfe’s project countries
  • Excellent spoken and written English language skills
