Duties and Responsibilities
Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Chief of the People Management Central (PMC) or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the Individual Contractor – HR Assistant will: • Assist HR Partners with various administrative and logistical tasks; • Provide general office support services; • Draft and/or process a variety of correspondence and other communications; • Assist in preparing and maintaining data files for candidates, arranging for interviews, data entry and analysis; • Assist in the evaluation and screening of applications of candidates for various positions; • Prepare agenda and provide relevant documentation required for recruitment related meetings; • Set up and maintain reference files/records (electronic and paper); • Schedule appointments/meetings, monitor deadlines, etc.; • Undertake research on a range of HR related issues and assist in the preparation of notes/reports. • Assist with various HR related statistics and prepare periodic reports; • Perform a variety of administrative duties (e.g. leave recording, request for office supplies and equipment, etc.); • Manage the UNV Portfolio from recruitment to separation; • Support in the recruitment and clearance of Interns at ESCWA; • Support PMC colleagues with ad hoc requests; • Collaborate on process improvement projects; • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications/special skills
A High School Diploma is required. All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. A minimum of 2 years of work experience in human resources, general office support, administrative services or related area is required.
Languages
Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA. For this position, fluency in English and Arabic is required. Note: “Fluency” equals a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas.
