SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

The Ford Foundation’s U.S. Program in Gender, Racial and Ethnic Justice (GREJ) seeks a collaborative, strategic, team-oriented Program Associate to support program staff who are leading portfolios to advance reproductive justice, immigrant rights, and to advance new paradigms to achieve community safety outside the carcel system in the US. Reporting to the Director of GREJ, the Program Associate will hold a variety of responsibilities related to the research, analysis and coordination of programmatic activities and also serve as a strong conduit for shared learning within the team and across programmatic teams. Program Associates must work well in diverse, fast-paced environments and bring a problem-solving orientation to their work and the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Map grants for team understanding and cross-team learning.
  • Analyze grant proposals for outcomes and strategic alignment.
  • Monitor grant coding integrity with Program Assistants and Grants Managers.
  • Conduct research, summarize findings, and assist in data analysis.
  • Enter and compile information for dashboards and specialized reports.
  • Act as the team’s information manager, creating and managing substantive materials.
  • Coordinate and implement the three portfolio’s monitoring, evaluation, and learning plans to track progress towards strategy goals.
  • Follow up on leads and contacts, holding preliminary informational meetings.
  • Track decisions and follow-up items during meetings, producing meeting summaries.
  • Coordinate and project manage logistical arrangements for grantee convenings and cross-team initiatives including background research.
  • Plan and organize meetings with other Ford Foundation thematic areas for learning and collaboration.
  • Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate foundation work.
  • At the direction of the Director of GREJ, attend relevant meetings/conferences to gather information and knowledge to advance the GREJ’s work.
  • Compile short periodic summaries of related newsworthy events, activities, internal and external publications by team, and other relevant information.
  • Coordinate with the Office of Communications on internal communications and press and promotional requirements.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 3 years’ of working experience with social justice advocacy, organizing and campaigns.
  • Experience working in multi-issue organizations is preferred
  • Strong proficiency with qualitative data collection, review, analysis and reporting.
  • Strong proficiency with the use of software platforms and high degree of comfort with multiple technology applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Google Suite, and databases.
  • Strong organizational and communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a multi-faceted, multitasking environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a productive member of a community of people at work who respects differences while working toward shared goals.
  • Comfortable with periods of ambiguity, and constructively participates in ongoing organizational development.
  • College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position is primarily a sedentary role. However, the person in this position may need to occasionally move about inside the office to liaise with internal staff, access files, office machinery and a copy machine/printer. The foundation requires all staff to be in the office three days a week.

SALARY: The Ford Foundation is committed to practicing salary transparency. The minimum salary for this position is $87,000 and maximum is $97, 000 It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of this range. The final offer is determined by a candidate’s relevant experience and our commitment to internal equity. We review global compensation on a regular basis to ensure market competitiveness and equity. The hiring range for this position has been carefully crafted in alignment with the market.

LOCATION: This position is based in the foundation’s New York office. We operate in a hybrid model and require staff to be in the office three days per week.
