The IFC Controllers Department (CNT) is responsible for effectively and efficiently managing IFC’s Financial Operations (loan, equity and short-term finance operations, and back-office treasury support operations), Financial Reporting (including reporting and analysis, portfolio review, investment accounting and accounting policy), Internal Controls, and Financial Integration, Systems and Projects. The Department comprises approximately 140 diverse and highly skilled staff, based in Washington DC, and Chennai.
The Financial Integration, Systems and Projects (CNTFS) unit within the Controllers Department provides leading capabilities in Project Management, Intelligent Automation, Innovation, Data Governance and Process improvement support to CNT business operations, as well as consistent support to each CNT department for the identification and implementation of transformative initiatives (e.g., Robotics, Business Process Management, Data and Analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning). These initiatives are intended to increase productivity and efficiencies in work program delivery, while maintaining continuity in current CNT business operations.
The team is also involved in the integration of relevant data from IFC’s key accounting and transaction systems into timely and accurate management reporting that support decision making in line with IFC’s strategic priorities. One of the primary responsibilities of the unit is the business ownership of IFC’s investment profitability system, FSRS (financial sustainability reporting system), a management reporting tool with close to 300 users within IFC, which brings together and disaggregates financial data from IFC Controllers systems to provide investment P&L statements down to investment project-level.
CNTFS has co-located some aspects of its work program to IFC’s Chennai Office (CNTCO), who have recruited staff in the IFC Financial Integration, Projects & Systems (CNTFI) to deliver their work program.
IFC Controllers Department is seeking a Financial Data Analyst in the Financial Integration, Projects & Systems unit in Chennai (CNTFI) to support and contribute to activities related to program management office, systems and innovative automations, AI, including (i) manage the cross-departmental coordination on smaller and larger projects involving changes to the CNT IT ecosystem and profitability analytics; (ii) manage the creation of efficiencies through automation and streamlining of processes and deliverables; (iii) assure IT systems projects are under budget and comply with business requirements and governance framework(s) and (iv) support CNT systems. This position will report to the Team Lead of CNTFI unit in Chennai. The successful candidate will be responsible for various aspects of CNTFI work program: support the blended finance (CNTBF) business team in their automation initiatives, and implementation of IT systems and upgrades, as well as in the implementation of new initiatives and financial products to ensure that data is recorded accurately and timely; automation development & support for business requirements/projects initiated for the Controller’s business; providing management and financial accounting support for IFC financial, and reporting systems, designing datamining and analytical tools; and providing input into technology/automation development, actively managing project management office for various CNT and corporate initiatives.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the automation development & support for business requirements/projects initiated for the CNT units. He/ She is expected to independently undertake and deliver on specific substantive pieces of work assigned, in coordination with the relevant teams in CNT and across the World Bank Group including, but not limited to:
• Collaborate closely with the Team Leads, Trained users and CIT to drive and provide training and support to staff on the use and adoption of data tools (e.g., Alteryx, Power BI, Power automate and Power Apps)
• Support the training of business and other partners/stakeholders on Automation tools, products, and features, while guiding and assisting other team members involved in automation projects
• Support the integration of generative AI technologies into business processes, focusing on learning about automation and scalability
• Work with business units to gather and document user requirements for analytics or AI Proof of Concept (POC) developments
• Help in transitioning POCs into operational solutions, utilizing frontend tools such as Power BI for implementation and visualization
• Support in configuring widgets, curating the page contents as a Publisher and provide solution for user friendly widgets for configuring intranet webpages
• Support development of applications and dashboards for various work program deliverables and initiatives
• Support regular stakeholder engagements through meeting preparations and follow-ups, helping to ensure project alignment and addressing any concerns
• Help ensure that all client commitments are met and participate in resolving issues to maintain strong client relationships
• Assist in generating and delivering reports that detail project progress, challenges, and outcomes
• Provide responsive support for ad-hoc project needs, demonstrating flexibility and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment
• Design presentations or communication material to promote our products and services
Selection Criteria
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Business or Engineering
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in data prep, data analytics, data visualization and automations using various tools such as Alteryx, Power BI and other low code/no code solutions
• Extensive experience in Office 365 including Power Platforms, SharePoint Online
• Provide guidance, support, and training to end users, content managers, site owners and support staff as needed on items related to set-up, design, content management, permissions, site ownership, document management etc
• Familiarity with Generative AI technology and its applications
• Ability to solve problems, strong organizational, research and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex issues concisely to senior management, colleagues, and clients.
• Knowledge of IFC systems, procedures, and policies would be advantageous (systems such as SAP, ACBS, Investran, Quantum, and Summit
• Strong teamwork orientation, good interpersonal skills, and ability to deal sensitively in a multi-cultural environment and build effective working relations with clients and colleagues
• Ability to prioritize, work well under pressure and capably manage/juggle multiple projects with tight deadlines, excellent time management skills and a keen sense of priorities
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and anticipate and respond quickly to situations.
