icddr,b is a Bangladesh-based international health research institute that strives to solve key public health problems through high-quality scientific research and innovation. icddrb as a values-based organization encourages women and people with disabilities.

Around 35 million people live in the coastal regions of Bangladesh, where water salinity is a major problem contributing to high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, and other environmental health hazards. The project will investigate whether strengthening primary health care for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and implementing low-cost solutions to mitigate drinking water salinity can contribute to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and chronic kidney diseases among selected coastal areas in Khulna and Satkhira districts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Attend all kinds of training/orientation sessions to understand data collection, questionnaires, standard operating procedure, survey methodology;
• Prepare weekly/monthly work plan and submit to the concern staff;
• Collect quantitative/qualitative data;
• Seek supervisor’s guidance to resolve issues in interacting with respondents and collecting data;
• Submit collected data to supervisor timely;
• Communicate with the supervisor for solving problems/questions related to data collection and any issues related to field implementation;
• Maintain liaison with allied GoB, NGO and community representative in order to support research;
• Share experience and learning within the team in order to improve the productivity of the team.

Required qualification and experience:

• Masters in Environmental Science or Masters in Hydrology/Hydrogeology.
• 03 years of experience in relevant field.

Location: Khulna (Koyra) or Satkhira (Assashuni)

Contract Type and duration:

• CSA basis for Three months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Tk 45,593/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
