It seeks to support transactions that catalyze private sector investment in developmentally impactful projects that are just at the threshold of commercial viability but need some concessional finance to de-risk or help rebalance the risk-reward profile of these project to draw in private sector investors. To that end, CBFNP manages various pools of contributor funds aimed at meeting various development objectives in the most challenging environments and poorest countries, and for priority sectors such as climate change, gender, infrastructure, agriculture and food security, SME finance. It works closely as a cross-cutting product group, with industry investment teams and regional departments within IFC, colleagues across the World Bank/IDA global practice groups and regions.

Role and responsibilities:

Key thematic areas covered include climate change and the energy transition, trade and trade finance, financial market development, digital technologies and start-ups, jobs, and gender equality. S/he will also work closely with designers, other editors, and communications officers to develop a product that influences partnership outcomes and raises awareness of IFC’s impact.

The Editor will be a motivated and dynamic professional with extensive knowledge of private sector development, business, and finance, particularly as it relates to relationships with donors. S/he will be an excellent writer with a strong track record of publications. S/he will also be experienced in steering reports and other editorial projects through the production process and be comfortable negotiating with authors on how to make their projects more relevant and appealing to external audiences. The successful candidate will be expected to produce compelling articles and short reports that are aligned with IFC’s priorities and that readers can easily digest.
