South-South and triangular cooperation (SSTC) is a growth area for UNICEF, and in the last ten years, UNICEF has started to build some capacity for SSTC engagement and support. The main purpose of this consultancy is to support capacity building on SSCT in UNICEF, especially amongst partnerships officers. The consultant will promote the recently developed an online course for AGORA which will be available for all staff as the basis for targeted training workshops both online and in person. The consultant will also support the Africa/MENA team in integrating SSTC among MENA and Africa Cos and will support other initiatives as necessary and requested by the supervisor.

Scope of Work:
1. Finalise the course on SSTC for UNICEF staff members.
– Finalize the draft content for the SSTC course and share with key stakeholders for feedback and comments.
– Test run the course.
– Finalize content based on feedback.
2. Collaborate with AGORA staff to adapt the course for AGORA.
– Finalize course on AGORA to go live.
– Disseminate and advocate for the course
– Deliver the course based on the final version.
3. Support Africa/ MENA team in integrating SSTC in the work of the country offices and other relevant work.

  • Advanced university degree in Social Sciences or International Affairs.
  • Knowledge and experience of South-South and triangular cooperation.
  • Knowledge and skills in curriculum design and development of courses.
  • Knowledge of the UN and UNICEF’s mandate and work done in the area of SSTC, knowledge exchange and capacity building.
    Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment.
