Duties and Responsibilities
The Universal Postal Union (UPU), a specialized agency of the United Nations and the principal forum for cooperation between postal sector stakeholders, establishes the rules for international mail exchanges. It has 192 member countries and has its headquarters in Berne. Its primary objective is to encourage the provision of a quality postal service that is accessible to all, and its core mission is to develop social, cultural and commercial communication between peoples. The UPU comprises several bodies, including the Postal Operations Council (POC), which is made up of representatives from 41 member countries and considers operational and technical matters of interest to the postal service. The POC promotes the introduction of new postal products. It also establishes standards for various technological, operational and other processes, as well as procedures for their implementation. The traineeship will focus on tasks related to the activities of the UPU Postal Technology Centre, which is responsible for developing innovative solutions to optimize postal operations worldwide. Details of traineeship: The intern will be responsible for the following tasks: i. Contributing to the development and maintenance of SQL databases ii. Developing services using C# and .NET technologies a. Collaborating with senior developers to integrate APIs with frontend applications b. Assisting in testing and debugging API endpoints iii. Working on frontend JavaScript projects a. Taking part in developing user interfaces using JavaScript frameworks b. Participating in code reviews and contributing to frontend architecture decisions iv. Collaborating with team members a. Working closely with experienced developers and project managers b. Participating in daily stand-up and weekly developer meetings c. Assisting in documenting project technical guides v. Learning and growing a. Taking advantage of mentorship opportunities to enhance technical skills b. Engaging in continuous learning through training sessions and code reviews c. Contributing to innovative projects and proposing new ideas for improvement
Qualifications/special skills
Currently pursuing a degree in computer science, information technology or a related field Basic understanding of SQL, C# and JavaScript Eagerness to learn new technologies and frameworks Problem-solving skills and attention to detail Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Languages
Proficiency in French and working knowledge of English.
Additional Information
In line with UPU rules, this traineeship is reserved for students and recent graduates in the areas described above, provided that they have graduated within six months of the date of this announcement. Any other candidate profile will not be considered. The traineeship will be remunerated in accordance with current UPU Human Resources rules.
