The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the United Nations System’s designated entity for addressing environmental issues at the global and regional level. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. The overall objective of the UNEP’s Industry and Economy Division is to encourage decision makers in government, local authorities and industry to develop and adopt policies, strategies and practices and technologies that promote sustainable patterns of consumption and production, make efficient use of natural resources, ensure safe management of chemicals and contribute to making trade and environment policies mutually supportive. It promotes the development, use and transfer of policies, technologies, economic instruments, managerial practices and other tools that assist in environmentally sound decision making and the building of corresponding activities. This post is located in the Industry and Economy Division, Sustainable Mobility Unit at the Nairobi duty station (http://www.unep.org/transport/). Under the overall supervision of the Head of the Sustainable Mobility Unit and the direct supervision of the Lead Programme Officer, Electric Mobility Programme, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
Responsibilities
1. Programme/Project Management Support: • Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of UNEP’s global Electric Mobility Programme with a special focus on the electric mobility and gender component of the programme; . • Provide technical support to regional focal points, regional partners and country partners. • Design data collection tools, oversee all data collection, analysis and preparation of technical electrical mobility and gender papers and reports. • Develop tools and spearhead all training and capacity building activities and conducts webinars. • Develop a monitoring, reporting and verification framework (MRV) for tracking impacts of electric mobility interventions. • Research, analyze and present information gathered from diverse sources. • Assist in policy development, including the review and analysis of issues and trends, preparation of evaluations or other research activities and studies. • Undertake survey initiatives; review, analyze and interpret responses. • Perform consulting assignments in collaboration with project partners, through workshops, etc.; undertake outreach activities through training workshops, seminars, etc. on assigned topics/activities. • Coordinate activities related to budget and funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements, etc.) and prepares related documents/reports (pledging, work programme, programme budget, etc.). • Participate in/lead field missions, including provision of guidance to external consultants, government officials and other parties and draft mission summaries etc. • Perform consulting assignments, in collaboration with project partners, by planning facilitating workshops, through other interactive sessions and assisting in developing the action plan the project partners will use to manage the change. • Undertake outreach activities; conduct training workshops, seminar, among others, and make presentations on assigned topics/activities. • Collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. 2. General Administrative Support: • Propose meeting agenda topics, identify participants, prepare documents and presentations, etc. • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in environmental sciences, engineering, public policy, economics, development studies, transportation sciences, sustainable transport or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.

Work Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management in sustainable mobility or related fields is required. Three (3) years of experience at the international level focusing on gender and electric mobility issues in developing countries is desirable. Experience in dealing with international donor organizations like the United Nations in proposal writing, project reporting, budget supervision etc.) is desirable. Experience developing tools and guidelines and reports on gender and electric mobility is desirable. Two (2) years or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable. NOTE: “Fluency equals a rating of “fluent” in all four areas (read, write, speak, understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of “confident” in two of the four areas.

Appointment against this project position is for an initial period of one (1) year and may be subject to extension.
