Our employment opportunity of the moment: Senior Program Officer

Location: Ottawa, Canada (Hybrid Mode*)

Employment Status: Term, 24 months

You have:

  • A Ph.D with a minimum of three (3) years or a master’s degree with a minimum of five (5) years in a relevant field of study such as nutrition, public health nutrition, population health and food systems, nutrition sensitive agriculture.
  • Proficiency in French and English (reading, writing and speaking)
  • Recent experience managing large-scale research programs involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience in the preparation and implementation of monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) framework to enable program-level synthesis.
  • Advanced knowledge of the current debates and research agendas relating to the nutrition transition globally, especially in the global south, challenges and opportunities for population health through food systems change, and the drivers of inequality in nutrition and health outcomes related to food systems.
  • Work experience in a developing country.

You are interested in:

  • Providing intellectual advice for areas of the Program connected to your specialized knowledge.
  • Developing, monitoring, managing, and evaluating research projects.
  • Assessing proposals, including conceptual, methodological, operational, evaluative, and financial aspects, and identifying and developing research proposals in accordance with the Centre policies.
  • Managing the preparation of contracts and grant letters, analysis of financial statements, adjustment of budgets and schedules, and project closures.
  • Collaborating at the Centre-wide level with different stakeholders and contributing to knowledge dissemination and utilization.
  • Joining an organization that values and models diversity, inclusion, and equity.

This position requires frequent international travel.

As a result of this process, the Centre may establish a pool of pre-qualified candidates for future permanent and term opportunities, requiring the same competencies relevant to the Climate-Resilient Food Systems Program Division. Positions may be located at one of our six (6) offices around the world, in Ottawa, Amman, Dakar, Montevideo, Nairobi and New Delhi.
