About the Company:
On 24 February 2022, the military of the Russian Federation invaded Ukraine, with strikes across the territory of Ukraine. Since then, Russia’s invasion imposes a severe humanitarian and socio-economic toll, global energy and food crisis, large-scale destruction of the country’s infrastructure, and disruptions in the provision of critical services and degradation of social fabrics and communities’ ties, triggering one of the world’s most significant forced displacements.
Severe attacks on energy and critical infrastructure facilities leave millions of people without electricity, water or heating supply, struggling to access water, food, health services, materials to repair homes, among others. The continued attacks cause substantial damage to the country’s economy and agricultural production, and also affect the poorest countries worldwide.
UNOPS support to partners spans the humanitarian-development nexus from emergency response to building back better, across the housing, health, education, transport, energy and mine action sectors, through infrastructure, procurement and technical assistance / project management interventions, with the ultimate aim of supporting the country on its EU accession and in its achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
*Note: UAMCO is creating a national pool of candidates for Project Manager positions. These roles will be available across multiple duty stations, including Kyiv, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, Odessa, and Vinnytsia.
The Project Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the project(s) and provides services to the different donors, partners and beneficiaries. The Project Manager acts on behalf of the Project Board to manage the project on an ongoing basis during the Implementation Stage. The main responsibility of a Project Manager is to ensure that the project outputs are delivered within the specified project tolerances of time, cost, quality, scope, risk and benefits. He/she is expected to meet the organization’s performance and delivery goals.
The Project Manager has the authority to assign, as per the Project Plan, work packages to Team Managers and approve deliverables produced by them.
Project Information:
The UNOPS Ukraine Multi-Country Office aims to build a portfolio of project and programs in Ukraine, Moldova and potentially in Poland that, put together, support the strategic objective of recovery and, going forward, the reconstruction of Ukraine, more specifically in the UNOPS mandate areas of of procurement, infrastructure, and project management, as well as advisory services in these. The substantive focus of these areas lies on energy and green energy transition, transportation, housing and shelter, health and education with access to basic services.
For the portfolio to be planned and managed coherently, Project Managers will be assigned to and responsible for a specific project (or group of projects, depending on their complexity) against the generic functions and key results defined below.
