The UN Women has published a job vacancy announcement on 27/06/2024 for qualified applicants to fill in the vacant post of Communications and Public Relations Consultant to be based in Monrovia , Liberia.

Company Name: UN Women

Job Title: Communications and Public Relations Consultant

Duty Station: Monrovia , Liberia

Country: Liberia

Application Deadline: 05-Jul-24

About the Company:

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

Governance and Participation in Public life is one of UN Women’s primary areas of work, recognizing the integral role of women in strong and stable democratic processes. Through its Governance and Participation Section, UN Women works to ensure that women lead, participate in, and benefit equally from governance systems.

The Women’s Legislative Caucus of Liberia (WLC) was formed in 2006 by women legislators of both Houses (Senate and House of Representatives) of the 52nd National Legislature of Liberia. Their purpose is to promote gender equality and women empowerment irrespective of political affiliation, religion, ethnic background, or other differences. The WLC seeks to take a common position on critical national issues affecting women and girls and to speak with one voice on such issues. Since its establishment in 2006, the WLC has focused on networking, capacity-building, and mainstreaming a gender perspective into national legislation and budgets; advocating for the passage and reform of gender equity legislation, such as affirmative action for women in politics; and raising awareness to focus public attention and gain public support on women’s issues important to women and girls.

UN Women supports the WLC, its gender-sensitive normative and legislative agenda, gender-responsive budgeting, and its promotion of women’s political participation and representation in national decision-making. In light of this, a key component of the support to the WLC is to ensure the work of the WLC is communicated to the public to promote gender equality agenda and positive portrayal of women leaders. To his end, UN Women is planning to recruit a communication and public relations consultant to support the WLC in the formulation and implementation of the communications, advocacy, and media strategies to increase the standing and awareness of WLC with partners, the media, and the public.

Under the overall guidance of the Deputy Representative with direct reporting to the Programme Specialist, Women Political Participation and the Programme Coordinator of the WLC the Communications & Public Relations consultant supports the formulation and implementation of the communications, advocay, and media strategies to increase the standing and awareness of WLC with partners, the media and the public. The Consultant will also help the WLC to increase its visibility and communicate their mandate, strategic objectives, and achievements. The consultant will closely work with UN Women’s Programme Analyst, Women Political Participation, and Programme Coordinator of the WLC in undertaking the responsibilities.
