Within delegated authority, the Contingent-Owned Equipment Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: ? Conducts Arrival, Operational Readiness, Repatriation, Periodic and other types of inspections of formed units to verify by physical inspection that the TCC/PCC and the United Nations are in compliance with their agreed responsibilities as detailed in the MOU. ? Raises within the COE Modules of the COE System and processes for approval by the Chief, COE Unit, COE Verification Reports related to the above inspections. ? Provides advice to formed units on all COE/MOU related matters including recommendations as to how non-compliance with the MOU, by either party, may be rectified. ? Maintains within the, inventories of COE held by all assigned formed units; Maintains records of all UNOE on issue to assigned formed units. ? Participates as required, in pre-deployment visits to TCC/PCC to assist TCC/PCC to prepare formed units for deployment to field missions. ? Maintains up to date comprehensive documentary and electronic files/records on day to-day activities relating to units and their inspections, archives records and documents according to the Mission Archive Plan,; ECOE System; Maintenance of unit MS Excel/Access Databases and provision of reports in other software as required. ? Reports any loss or damage to COE that could be subject to reimbursement by the UN, Oversees the issuance of UN owned equipment and UN services provided to units which should be self-sustained, and reflect as necessary in verification reports for financial reimbursement. ? Maintains up-to-date Organization Charts on units detailing their organization by sub-units and deployment locations of vehicles, other major and minor equipment including crew served armaments. ? Performs other duties as required.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Job – Specific Qualification
Training in Information Technology is required.
Work Experience
A minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in material management and logistics-support related activities is required. Experience in the procedures related to the implementation and management in the field of MOUs is desirable. Experience providing services to or in a field operation of the United Nations Common System or a comparable international organization is desirable. Experience in inventory control practices and procedures is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in both English and French is required.
