The objective of the internship is to assist in fulfilling the mandate of ISA, while providing practical training to the intern. Responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background and interest areas within librarianship, as well as the length of the internship period and the location of the intern (i.e. on-site or remote). Under the direct supervision of the Knowledge Management Officer, and within limits of assigned authority, duties may include, but are not limited to: ? Respond to requests for documents and library resources and advises on their accessibility ? Assist with reference and client services ? Assist with the development and maintenance of Knowledge Management tools ? Assist in managing the content of platforms and setting up and maintaining knowledge-based websites and sub-sites ? Monitor knowledge resources aligned with ISA’s work areas ? Digitization projects ? Collection Development
Education
To qualify for an internship with the Satya N. Nandan Library within the Office of Legal Affairs (OLA) at the Headquarters of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) the following conditions must be met: Applicants must: (a) be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate school programme in library and information studies; or have graduated with a university degree in library and information studies or related field, and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation. (b) Be proficient in using OCLC, online library catalogues and other bibliographic tools (c) Be computer literate in standard software applications; strong research skills and experience with knowledge management and artificial intelligence are an advantage; (d) Have experience using MS Office applications including website administration with SharePoint (e) Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and of the ISA, and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and (f) Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the ISA Secretariat. For the internship advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.\
