Responsibilities: 

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

  • The post holder is responsible for managing and coordinating the information management function to enable the effective UNICEF programming.The postholder’s main tasks and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

    IM function management

    • Implements data collection and an analysis that consider the information needs of stakeholders and is compliant with standards and protocols for ethical data and information management,
    • Implement regular secondary data reviews and primary data collection including designing questionnaires using appropriate tools,
    • Conduct data processing including organizing, cleaning, triangulating, evaluating and validating the data,
    • Analyse data to meet identified information needs of stakeholders
    • Support evidence-based advocacy and resource mobilization by providing accurate, relevant and timely data, information and information products.
    • Gather feedback on IM products and use to make improvements.

    Support across the programme cycle

    • Contribute to the effective roll out and monitoring of UNICEF and interagency processes including Humanitarian Performance Monitoring (HPM) (partner reporting, field monitoring and operations monitoring) and the Humanitarian Programme Cycle (HNO, HRP and CCPM).
    • Support the development, implementation and use of needs assessments with a focus on interagency processes
    • Support accurate and timely reporting of programme results by partners to meet UNICEF and cluster reporting obligations (e.g. 3/4/5 Ws and SitRep reporting).
    • Support collection, analysis and use of programme monitoring and community feedback data to support continuous programme improvement.
    • Participate in and support learning exercises (e.g. after action reviews) and evaluations with relevant analysis.

The efficient and effective technical, and operational support provided to the effective information management and reporting and the achievement of sustainable results, contributes to achievement of goals and objectives to create a protective environment for children and thus ensure their survival, development and well-being in society.

Requirements: 

  • A university degree in one of the following fields is required: Information Management or Information Systems, GIS Information Technologies, Computer Science, Statistics, Social Sciences or another subject area relevant to Information Management.
  • One year of professional experience in information management, data management, geographical information systems, assessments, situation analysis and/or PM&E with the UN and/or NGO is required.
  • Experience in development of GIS cartography of intervention and other related areas at the international and/or in a developing and humanitarian country is an asset.
  • Fluency in English. Knowledge of Arabic is an asset.
