Under the direct supervision of the Gender Programme Specialist and with guidance of the Deputy Representative (Programmes), the UN Volunteer will support JCO programme and operations staff in implementing the UNICEF Disability Inclusion Policy and Strategy (DIPAS) 2022-2030 | UNICEF across Programme and Operations work.
The UN Volunteer plans, implements, and monitors a variety of technical and administrative tasks. S/he will provide sound and coherent technical leadership on disability issues. The overarching scope of work cover the following areas: a) providing technical support to programme and operations sections in improving disability Inclusion across their work b) ensuring planning, implementation of monitoring of sectoral results and funds c) ensuring office and internal accessibility of JCO premises and UNICEF managed services in humanitarian camps and d) active engagement and technical support of JCO gender and disability focal point structure.
one or more of the following areas is required: Inclusive education, disability inclusion, sociology, anthropology, psychology. A lived experience of disability is an asset.
? Excellent understanding of CRPD principles and local context, knowledge or with Organisations with Persons with Disability (OPDs) desirable.
? Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
? Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing.
? Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development.
? Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel.
? Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment.
? Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines.
? Have affinity with or interest in children, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
