Responsibilities: 

Within delegated authority, the Store Worker will be responsible for the following duties: ? Assists Working Leader of the Team with planning the daily workload of the Team and delegation of work to subordinates. ? Performs various inventory management duties for goods and materials. ? Oversees warehouse/delivery personnel to ensure a safe, efficient, and effective operation. ? Assists with contract management by monitoring the performance and services provided by outside contractors. ? Co-ordinates the workflow of junior team members. ? Performs physical goods receipt and warehouse management duties including goods receipt, quality inspection, storage, and issuance of goods and materials. ? Operates standard warehouse equipment such as fork-lift, electric pallet jack, manual pallet jacks, and hand trucks. ? Performs physical goods receipt transactions in Umoja to confirm United Nations acceptance of goods during transfer of ownership, in accordance with the Incoterm. ? Establishes safety stock levels to support end user’s requirements and re-orders stock at the appropriate level. ? Performs physical inventory to ensure accurate reconciliation of monthly inventory reports. ? Reviews, processes, and confirms Umoja Transfer Orders. ? Co-ordinates deliveries with the Team’s units to achieve economies of scale and improve client satisfaction. ? Monitors performance and services provided by outside contractors to ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions. ? Assists with drafting specifications and Statements of Work for the Team’s operational requirements and participates in technical evaluations. ? Coordinates extensively between the United Nations and its vendors and suppliers on a daily basis, ensuring requested items are distributed accurately and in compliance with the United Nations requirements. ? Co-ordinates the recycled toner programme to ensure the programme operates as intended and contributes to the ‘Greening the Blue’ UN initiative. ? Assists Working Leader with planning the daily workload of the Team, prioritizes and organizes assignments in the most effective way. ? Co-ordinates the workflow of junior team members and oversees warehouse/delivery personnel for the purpose of ensuring a safe, efficient, and effective operation. ? Provides training to staff on administrative policies and procedures including inventory-related matters. ? Compiles and maintains statistical information related to the Team’s operational output in accordance with established requirements. ? Processes purchase orders and drafts outline correspondence when required. ? Provides customer service support to various end users by responding to inquires in a timely manner. ? Acts as a back-up to the Working Leader during his/her absences. ? Assigns or performs material handling tasks of an unusually difficult or potentially hazardous nature, ensuring that appropriate precautions are taken to safeguard personnel, equipment and material. ? Ensures all operating equipment is properly maintained and if needed, serviced by authorized maintenance contractors. ? Performs ad-hoc duties as assigned.

Requirements: 

Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Job – Specific Qualification

A valid Class D Driver’s License at the time of application is required and should be attached to the application.

Work Experience

A minimum of 5 years of work experience in warehousing, inventory control or related area is required. Experience in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access, etc.) and web-based applications are desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
