Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and implement the CERN strategy for fundraising from private donors through the CERN & Society Foundation
  • Support the CERN & Society Foundation Board, ensuring close and regular contact with the Board Chair and Members
  • Cultivate and maintain relations with existing and potential supporters, soliciting, negotiating, accepting and recognising support
  • Oversee administrative and financial processes linked to the fundraising activities, including grant review and approval processes and audits, ensuring compliance with legal and financial requirements
  • Oversee due diligence process, supporting the Fundraising Advisory Board and ensuring compliance with regulations and internal policies
  • Coordinate with departments and experiments at CERN concerning fundraising matters
  • Maintain liaison with project leaders of programmes supported by the CERN & Society Foundation.
  • Head the Partnerships and Fundraising section, including recruitment and performance management

Requirements: 

Master’s degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of fundraising or a related field.

Experience:

  • Extensive experience in fundraising from private donors and partnership-building, preferably at international level.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing fundraising strategies, and providing support to senior management and oversight boards.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of global fundraising environment and ability to adapt strategies and tools accordingly.
  • Experience working with fundraising and/or partnership-building in a scientific or technical area would be an advantage.

Language skills:

Spoken and written English or French: ability to draw-up technical specifications and/or scientific reports and to make oral presentations in at least one of the two languages. Basic knowledge of the other language would be an asset or an undertaking to acquire it rapidly.
