Responsibilities: 

Under the overall guidance of the Director of the Division for Policies and Lifelong Learning Systems (ED/PLS), and of the Chief of the Teacher Development Section and Head of the Teacher Task Force Secretariat (ED/PLS/TED), and the direct supervision of the Senior project officer (coordinator) of the Teacher Task Force Secretariat, the Individual Specialist will support the Teacher Task Force Secretariat in improving its governance mechanisms and increase members engagement. The consultant will perform the following duties:

  1. Governance
  • Propose a monitoring implementation mechanism for the TTF 2024-2025 Workplan and assess its implementation.
  • Revise the welcome kits pack for new TTF members and lead in its implementation.
  • Document governing structure of the TTF and its Steering Committee and propose reforms on how the TTF secretariat handles governance issues.
  1. Members engagement
  • Support the work of regional groups, especially in the Arab region and Asia-Pacific, strengthening the TTF network, regional policy learning and promoting the engagement of members in the TTF activities.
  • Organizing and coordinating thematic groups while proposing a reform of the thematic groups
  • Develop guiding documents for thematic groups lead and members.
  • Review the existing members engagement tracker tool and develop strategies to increase members’ engagement.
  • Liaise with technical groups co-leads and the TTF secretariat regional group focal points to regularly inform the members engagement tracker tool.

  • Thematic groups reform proposed – 10 September 2024
  • New version of the membership engagement tracker tool – 10 October 2024
  • Revised guidelines and documents for thematic groups – 10 November 2024
  • Report on the members’ engagement in the Arab region and in Asia-Pacific in 2024 – 10 December 2024
  • Annual TTF report – 10 January 2025
  • 2024 Lessons learnt and SP external evaluation PPT – 10 February 2025

Requirements: 

Education of expert(s)

  • An advanced (Master’s or equivalent) degree in international relations, Political Science, Psychology, Pedagogy, Economics or related field.

Work experience

  • At least 5 years of professional experience working in the field of education and particularly on teachers.
  • Practical experience in supporting governing bodies of multistakeholder partnerships.

Required skills/Competencies

  • Ability to multitask under pressure while proactively communicating progress and any emerging constraints and maintaining a high level of responsiveness.
  • Ability to work independently, often within tight timelines, to meet strict deadlines.
  • Experience working in an international, multi-cultural environment.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Desirable skills/Competencies

  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to maintain good working relations with colleagues and staff at all levels within as well as outside the organization.
  • Very good organizational skills, tact and discretion.
  • Ability to adapt to a range of projects and to work in a team.

Languages

  • Fluency in writing and communicating in English required.
  • Working knowledge of Arabic.
