Responsibilities:
- Ensure financial instruments are accurately accounted for in accordance with US GAAP.
- Execute operational accounting activities for financial instruments in the development related investment portfolios and Treasury portfolios.
- Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual financial close related supporting schedules and financial statement disclosures utilizing data from various systems, other internal sources and external service providers.
- Participate in system implementation projects and contribute to process redesign and spreadsheet automation to improve efficiency by collaborating within the Accounting team and other Corporate functions.
- Assess accounting and financial reporting implications, prepare and document the accounting treatments for complex financial instruments by working extensively with IDB Invest’s investment officers, Risk, Legal and operational teams.
- Participate in the related technical research and implementation of current and future accounting pronouncements.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and respond to internal and external requests in a professional manner.
Requirements:
- Education:bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum three years of experience preferably working with financial institutions or Big Four accounting firms.
- Languages: Proficiency in English is required. Proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable.
- Soft Skills: Self-management, flexibility, dependability, relationship building, results-driven, with strong communication skills.
- Technical skills: Financial Reporting and Accounting Theory: Understanding of banking industry’s financial reporting, accounting theory and US GAAP accounting principles and rules. Strong analytical skills and attention to details. IT Systems & Applications Knowledge: Proficiency in the use of MS Office package (Excel, Word, PPT). Knowledge of financial and accounting systems and data tools are highly valued.
