Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Activities
  • Obtain patient histories and conduct thorough medical assessments
  • Perform routine physical exams and health screenings.
  • Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses
  • Prescribe medications and treatments in line with the agreed Ministry of Health and WHO protocols.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Provide clinical care to patients in line with best practices and MOH/WHO guidelines.
  • Provides emergency care, stabilization and refer patients to specialists or other healthcare providers as needed
  • Ensure proper recording of referral of patients and follow up
  • Provide counseling on diet, hygiene, and preventive healthcare.
  • Ensures all consultations with patients are in a dignified, confidential and appropriate manner in keeping with the standards and principles of care.
  • Monitors the rational distribution and management of medicines and equipment
  • Ensures Infection Prevention and Control standards are adhered at all time during patient consultations and clinical care.
  • Immediately report to the Health officer for any communicable disease to be reported at MOH/Health Cluster level and coordinate to provide accurate data for the case investigation.
  • Manages and report all adverse reactions experienced in the PHC facility.
  • Provides psychological first aid to patients and family members.
  • In coordination with medical team ensure effective implementation of triage, nutrition screening and train others where needed.
  • Ensure accurate data collection tools are available
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and reporting of medical data in the required registers and in accordance with agreed tools and following to the case definition

General Activities

  • Participate in health need assessments and site selection for health program if needed
  • Engages and collaborate closely with SCs nutrition teams and CP /EiE teams within the primary health center
  • Participates in training to improve clinical performance
  • Be prepared to host visits and represent Save the Children.
  • Works as per allocated shift hours
  • Comply with SCI policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
  • Be flexible to take other roles when required by the line manager.

In order to be successful, you will bring/have:

Requirements:

  • Registered Medical Doctor qualified from the recognized institution and licensed to practice medicine in Gaza

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • At least 5+ years of experience in primary health care and general practice.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and demonstrate flexibility, motivation, and maturity
  • Ability to work under pressure of workload and emergency setting
  • Ability to work within a tight timeframe,
  • Willingness to travel extensively in the field.
  • Speak and understand local languages

Desirable

  • Work experience in humanitarian emergencies
  • Work experience in an (International) Non–Governmental Organization ((I)NGO)
  • Fluency in English
  • Good knowledge of quality standards and quality controls related to medical practice.
