Responsibilities:

Under the general supervision of the Division’s managers, specific responsibilities in policy communications will include:

  • Writing and editing articles, blog posts, newsletters, and other technical pieces with an eye toward clear, concise and illuminating content. This includes video scripts, including feature videos; and explanatory and social media material on economic and financial issues, with an emphasis on visual storytelling.
  • Develop compelling written and multimedia content that showcases the IMF’s work, impact on, and relevance to people. Helping the IMF explain complex issues to a general audience in plain language. This includes explanatory material on economic and financial issues with an emphasis on visual storytelling.
  • Designing and implementing impactful strategies for digital channels (web and social media). Innovating on platforms or technologies as they become available.
  • Contributing to other divisional and departmental efforts, as needed.

Requirements:

  • An advanced university degree, or equivalent in journalism, communications, international relations, economics, or a related field, supplemented by a minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional experience, is required. Alternatively, a university degree, or equivalent, and ten (10) years of relevant professional experience are required.
  • The ideal candidate must be a digital native, with experience as writer and editor, strong editorial judgment, and the ability to translate technical material for a broader audience.
  • Proven experience in conceptualizing and implementing creative digital strategies tailored to meet institutional communications goals, including by applying innovative approaches and best-practice tools and techniques for storytelling and outreach.
  • Deep understanding of global economic issues as well as the IMF’s role and mandate is essential. Intellectual curiosity about economic and financial developments is essential.
  • The ability to negotiate effectively and be a team player, as well as openness to feedback and excellent interpersonal skills, are non-negotiable.
  • Knowledge of the middle east region and fluency in Arabic is a plus.
