Under the primary supervision of the Programme and Partnerships Specialist, the UN Volunteers will undertake the following tasks:
• Support UNV’s partnerships and resource mobilization efforts with Chinese stakeholders, including deployment of fully funded and partner-funded UN Volunteers, thematic and operational support (including Assignment Preparation Trainings) etc.
• Support targeted outreach to attract the right talent for Chinese fully funded assignments and into the UNV global talent pool.
• Support information and awareness raising about the UNV modalities and opportunities to prospective Chinese applicants.
• Facilitate surveys to gather information from the Chinese fully funded International UN Volunteers on their experience, without duplicating the UNV Annual Volunteer Survey, and its contribution to their professional development as well as reporting.
• Provide support in organizing IVD celebration and country-level volunteerism knowledge sharing, volunteering exchange and training, advocacy and partnership events, etc.
• Support event-related public awareness campaign and UNV social media platforms.
• Assist with translation and proof-reading of relevant volunteering materials between English and Chinese.
• Collaborate in the documentation of Chinese UN Volunteers’ achievements and stories as required.
• Provide inputs and updates to outreach materials.
• Assist in UNV’s learning session and retreat among UNV alumni, and corporate events.
• Support missions and events including missions of the UNV Executive Office and other senior personnel from UNV to China and support advocacy events in relation to the Chinese partnership.
• Perform any other related duties as requested by the supervisor.
Furthermore, UNVs are encouraged to:
• Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and taking an active part in UNV activities (for instance, IVD celebration events);
• Get acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
• Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking;
• Contribute news and articles on field experiences and submit them to UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
• Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly arrived UNV volunteers;
• Promote online volunteering and encourage individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering Service whenever technically feasible.
Results/Expected Output:
• Increased the number of Chinese nationals in the UNV global talent pool for national and inter-national assignments.
• Thematic and operational support provided.
• Support partnership related events organization and implementation, including Fully Funded UN Volunteer Assignment preparation training, IVD celebration and country-level volunteerism knowledge sharing, volunteering exchange and training, advocacy and partnership events, etc..
• Increased engagement in advocacy and awareness-raising events/campaigns.
• Gathered information through evidence-based surveys and reporting of Chinese Fully Funded UN Volunteers experiences.
• Supported UNV missions to China as necessary.
