Responsibilities:

Under the primary supervision of Ms. Qian Wang, Programme Management Officer and overall guidance of Mr. Ruihe Tu, Head of UNEP China Office, the UN Volunteers will undertake the following tasks:
• Assist in communication with partners on UNEP and UN initiatives and activities.
• Support UNEP’s role as chair of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework Results Group on Planet including ordanization of meetings, development of annual workshops and reporting.
• Support organizing meetings, events, and missions by drafting invitations and meeting documents, preparing meeting minutes, drafting briefing notes and support logistic arrangement.
• Assist in environmental and climate research, analyzis and present information gathered from diverse sources to inform the work of UNEP and the UN in China.
• Support drafting or consolidating inputs to the Office event calendar, partnership data-base, cooperation initiatives, briefing notes, UNINFO and other reporting as required.
• Assist in collecting, translating and consolidating info on China’s legislation, polices, practices, case studies on environment and sustainable development.
• Support to advocacy efforts by developing and supporting UNEP China social media, presence and press releases.
• Assist administrative work and other assignments as required by the Supervisor.

Furthermore, UNVs are encouraged to:
• Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and taking an active part in UNV activities (for in-stance, IVD celebration events);
• Get acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
• Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking;
• Contribute news and articles on field experiences and submit them to UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
• Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly arrived UNV volunteers;
• Promote online volunteering and encourage individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering Service whenever technically feasible.

Results/Expected Output:

• Timely support provided to tasks related to planning and implementation of UNEP co-operation activities and projects with China.
• Timely assistance to tasks related to implementation of activities of UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework Results Group on Planet.
• Appropriate data/file management maintained.
• Ad-hoc duties fulfilled as required.
• Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment.
• A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed.
