Responsibilities:

  • Provide support in preparing, planning, and implementing WASH-related activities.
  • Assist in the proper application of relevant WASH tools, as well as their integration into main sector programs.
  • Participate in WASH sector coordination meetings and working groups.
  • Assist the sector-led ministries in planning and documenting sector coordination meetings and support the WASH coordination with the Ministry of Education and Research, Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, and other relevant national and subnational government partners and CSOs.
  • Contribute to water and sanitation coordination, planning, fundraising, and reporting efforts.
  • Ensure quality implementation of WASH activities by regularly visiting the field to support staff and partners and monitor progress.

Requirements:

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: A university degree in one of the following fields is required: public health, social sciences, behaviour change communication, water and sanitation engineering or another relevant technical field.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of one year of professional work experience in WASH-related programmes is required.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in Romanian and working knowledge of English is required.

Desirables:

  • Additional relevant courses that complement/supplement the main degree are strong assets.
  • Relevant experience in a UN system agency is considered an asset.

Technical Knowledge Required:

Basic knowledge of at least two of the following four components:

  • Urban and rural water supply, including water safety and sustainability.
  • Urban and rural sanitation, including centralised and on-site sanitation solutions, and sustainability.
  • Hygiene promotion.
  • National government water and sanitation (WASH) policies, plans, strategies, and water and sanitation sector actors, stakeholders, and communities.

Basic knowledge of at least two of the following four components:

  • Programme/project management.
  • Capacity development.
  • Knowledge management.
  • Monitoring and evaluation.

Additionally, basic knowledge of both of the following components:

  • Human rights and WASH.
  • Gender equality and WASH.
