Responsibilities:

The purpose of the Shelter Assistant position is to provide support to program implementation at the field level in Gaza, directly working with the Shelter Coordinator and other Shelter staff.

Generic responsibilities 

  1. Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
  2. Assist with implementing the shelter portfolio according to the plan of action.
  3. Implement independently procedures and activities within own function or core competency as delegated.
  4. Responsible for organising and delivering tasks in line with priorities and standards.
  5. Provide suggestions and showcase initiative in day-to-day problem-solving in line with agreed procedures, priorities, and standards.
  6. Prepare and develop status reports as required by the program manager.
  7. Ensure proper filing of documents, reports, and other program documents.
  8. Contribute to the implementation of Safe and Inclusive Programming Minimum Standards across the area of work.

 

Specific responsibilities

  1. Carry out vulnerability and needs assessments (Shelter and socioeconomic) for Shelter projects, including required construction works at communal or household levels in Gaza.
  2. Monitor Shelter field activities daily and report to the Shelter Coordinator or Manager about progress/challenges in program implementation in Gaza.
  3. Track daily work plan for implementation of Shelter activities in Gaza through regular communication with key stakeholders.
  4. Keep accurate data of all technical information and ensure that all beneficiary files are completed and filed.
  5. Provide information about project criteria and activities and collect needed information on received complaints from beneficiaries and community members.
  6. Support the efficient and cost-effective use of NRC’s assets and resources to maximise support to project participants.
  7. Share ideas with the Shelter Team to fulfil beneficiaries’ needs best.
  8. Ensure cooperation/coordination with local community members and key stakeholders by setting up and following up regular communication with project participants and key stakeholders.
  9. Maintain proper communication with project partners, community members and project participants.
  10. Provide administrative support to the Shelter team, with specific tasks such as raising procurement requests, updating relevant project trackers, and other duties as required.
  11. Participate in emergency response activities (distribution and rapid assessment) as needed.
  12. Undertake any other reasonable task assigned by management.
