UNFPA is on the ground before, during, and after crises. Accelerating the three transformative results cannot be realised without prioritising preparedness, early and anticipatory action, and providing life-saving interventions, focusing on humanitarian, conflict, and post-conflict contexts.
UNFPA is working closely with governments, local NGOs, UN agencies and other partners to ensure that sexual reproductive health and rights and responses to gender-based violence are integrated into emergency responses. Daily, UNFPA ships hundreds of hygiene supplies and reproductive health kits to crisis settings, providing core life-saving services. UNFPA also deploys trained personnel and provides other crucial support to affected populations, ensuring the needs of women and girls are served through preparedness, emergency and reconstruction phases. As part of the UNFPA Strategic Plan 2022 – 2025, and in line with its comparative advantage in promoting the rights and choices of women and girls, UNFPA ensures complementarity across its humanitarian, development and peace-responsive efforts.
In 2023, UNFPA contributions received were $1,424.5 million, including $383.9 million in core and $1,040.6 million in non-core funding. 43% of the funds ($443.3 million) were for humanitarian response. The Republic of Korea was the 11th largest humanitarian donor to UNFPA in 2023.
