The program of Enteric Infections and Vaccines under the Infectious Diseases Division conducts research with Mucosal Immunology and Vaccinology Unit (MIVU) for immunological and molecular genomic analyses for different enteric organisms. To achieve this goal icddr,b is working for controlling enteric infections, detecting and controlling emerging and re-emerging infections with the collaboration of the relevant government and non-government stakeholders.

The Senior Statistical Officer will report to the Scientist and will be directly involved in preparing project reports, analytical tables, graphs and presentations for the manuscript. S/he will be involved in–

• Organize and plan routine statistical data processing and supervise the data management team;
• Apply statistical methods which include: Regression/prediction/survival analysis, trend test, simple/logistic/multivariable regression, linear /mixed models, and structural equation modelling, risk factor etc, to carry out appropriate statistical analysis in relation to Demographic Surveillance System, cross-sectional studies etc.
• Perform statistical quality checks on survey data, process and analyze survey data and propose estimate recommendations.
• Design to ensure data validity and reliability; Ability to clarify operational definitions of the analysis variables and statistical analysis results.
• Ability to carry out data curing logically, develop cleaned and matched data files, perform consistency checks according to supervisor’s instructions and coordinate with data management and scientific staff in order to ensure smooth data processing, management and analysis for research.
• Develop program error-detecting tools for identifying missing/wrong data and provide the necessary error list to the person concerned in order to establish a strong data management system.
• Provide necessary support to the data management team for any inconsistencies in records/ID correction as and when required;
• Prepare different types of reports, PowerPoint presentations, and documentation.
• Resolve queries and issues related to statistical analysis in order to prepare high-quality manuscripts and reports by the research team.
• Work with the Data Management Team closely to keep and improve the performance of the team;
• Organize review meetings in order to maintain a perfect data-flow system.

Required qualifications and experience:

• Masters in Statistics / Applied Statistics/ Biostatistics from a reputed university with good academic records;
• At least 5 years of experience in data analysis;
• Very good knowledge of Statistical programming language STATA/SAS/R
• Handling disease surveillance data, Analysis output generating using “R Markdown”, Developing a dashboard using “R Shiny”;
• Experiences in vaccine trial design (RCT, cluster RCT, Cohort, Case-Control, Non-inferiority trials, etc.) will add a significant advantage;
• Candidates who have publications in international peer-reviewed journals will get preference.

Location: Dhaka

Contract Type and Duration:

• Fixed Term Contract; duration will be for 1 year with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Annual Tk.909,360/- inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances and other admissible benefits.
• 14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,917/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance, and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
