Job Purpose and Organizational Context

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision and guidance of the Governance Specialist t, the intern will assist the unit, based on an agreed work plan, tasks and achievements by performing the activities narrated below for the duration of the internship: – The intern will support in the following two areas by focusing on the achievement of the following results;
1. Support on Human Rights Initiatives
2. Support on technical Assistance for Legal Environment Assessment
3. Support Country office on Social and Environmental Assessment

  • Supports on on-going collaborations with national and international stakeholders to promote Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) initiatives in Lesotho.
  • Assists in the design, implementation, and monitoring of programs aimed at advancing WPS
  • Support country office programme with  Women and Law in Southern Africa (WLSA)
  • Assists in providing  ongoing support to the Ministry of Public Service in organizing and conducting trainings on Human Rights, Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA)
  • Act as a liaison between the Unit heads and key stakeholders to ensure alignment and synergy in activities of Human Rights
  • Supports the SES team to do an assessment of all the Projects on social and environmental Impact Assessment and establish a Public Response mechanism

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

Candidates must meet one of the following educational requirements:

currently in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree; or
currently enrolled in a Master’s degree; or
have graduated no longer than 1 year ago from a master’s degree or equivalent studies.

Field of study: A degree in Law, Human Rights, Public Policy, or a related field or equivalent
