1.     Organizational Context

 

 

 

 

a.    Organizational Setting

 

 

 

 

The post is located in the Development Agenda Coordination Division (DACD), which is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the WIPO Development Agenda.

 

 

 

 

The Division serves as the Secretariat for the Committee on Development and Intellectual Property (CDIP), and facilitates its work in defining actions for the implementation of the Development Agenda (DA) and review of its implementation.  For this purpose, the Division also interfaces with internal and external stakeholders and promotes a better understanding of the WIPO Development Agenda and its benefits.

 

 

 

 

b.    Purpose Statement

 

 

 

 

The incumbent is responsible for contributing to the implementation of the Development Agenda and its mainstreaming in all related programs and activities and undertaking substantive and logistic tasks for the organization of the Committee on Development and Intellectual Property (CDIP) with primary support to Spanish speaking countries.

 

 

 

 

c.    Reporting Lines

 

 

 

 

The incumbent works under the supervision of the Senior Counsellor of the Division.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2.      Duties and Responsibilities

 

 

 

 

The incumbent will perform the following principal duties:

 

 

 

 

a.   Contribute to the preparation of documentation and reports for the Committee on Development and Intellectual Property (CDIP);

 

 

 

 

b.   Provide substantive support for coordination, implementation and evaluation of activities, and for their mainstreaming in the work of the Organization;

 

 

 

 

c.   Carry out research, draft reports, prepare documentation and compile information in support of the development, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of Development Agenda projects and activities;

 

 

 

 

d.   Monitor specific aspects of the Development Agenda implementation, identify problems and propose actions to improve activity and project implementation;

 

 

 

 

e.   Analyze project progress, identify and document significant events, decisions or deviations and record future activities;

 

 

 

 

f.    Participate in missions or meetings, provide information and support with respect to the implementation of the Development Agenda (DA) and recommend activities or action points;

 

 

 

 

g.   Assist with the implementation of Development Agenda (DA) projects, under the responsibility of the Division;

 

 

 

 

h.   Provide logistical, administrative and substantive support with regards to the organization of Committee sessions and other Committee on Development and Intellectual Property (CDIP) related meetings;

3.      Requirements

 

 

 

 

Education (Essential)

 

First-level university degree in development studies, economics, international relations, law or a related discipline.

 

 

 

 

Experience (Essential)

 

At least three years of relevant professional experience in the field of IP.

 

 

 

 

Experience working in international organizations.

 

 

 

 

Experience in monitoring projects; ensuring deliverables are being met, report progress to the committee (CDIP).

 

 

 

 

Experience (Desirable)

 

Experience in project management.

 

 

 

 

Experience in capacity building and technical assistance.

 

 

 

 

Language (Essential)

 

Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and Spanish.

 

 

 

 

Language (Desirable)

 

Knowledge of other official UN languages.

Annual salary:

 

Total annual salary consists of a net annual salary (net of taxes and before medical insurance and pension fund deductions) in US dollars and a post adjustment.  Please note that this estimate is for information only.  The post adjustment multiplier (cost of living allowance) is variable and subject to change (increase or decrease) without notice.  The figures quoted below are based on the June 2024 rate of 88.5%.
