JOB SUMMARY:

TITLE: Project Assistant (Health and Nutrition)(Camp Based Staff)

TEAM/PROGRAMME: Nutrition/Program Implementation LOCATION: Thet Kae Pyin Based

Number of Position: One

GRADE: NAT-5 CONTRACT LENGTH: Fixed Term

CHILD SAFEGUARDING

Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE:

This position mainly intend to manage and implement the intervention of Maternal Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN), Basic Primary Health Care and Blanket Supplementary Feeding Program in Sittwe camps and to make sure the activities to be effective by monitoring and supervision the field activities in close collaboration with field based staffs.

Provide Antenatal care, Post natal care and Newborn care program to mothers and baby following birth to seek and care the possible risk factors that happen to both mothers and newborn babies in the Project area. And also manage Under five sick child care program in community and make sure to refer emergency cases to Partner Organization & clinics. Provide MIYCN intervention and management of acute malnourished children and timely referral and also assist in BSFP distribution

This programs aim to reduce health risk factors among vulnerable population in targeted communities through WASH, Health and Nutrition in Rakhine State.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Project Officer (Health and Nutrition), Project Officer(BSFP)

Staff reporting to this post: Community Facilitators, Community Nutrition Volunteers

Budget Responsibilities: No financial approval

Role Dimensions: Regular contact of basic factual information

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

• Supervise and monitor all the activities that are related with IYCF and Basic Primary Health Care conducted by community outreach workers & volunteers and monitor in Sittwe IDP camps.

• Responsible for conducting the Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) activities to mothers who are pregnant, lactating women, mothers of children under 2, caregivers to practice optimal Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) practices.

• Supervision on mother-to-mother support group session, IYCF caregiver sessions and cooking demonstration sessions in fields.

• Provide technical support to camp-based staff with Antenatal, Postnatal, Newborn care, under five sick children management and IYCF nutrition in close collaboration with field based staffs.

• Facilitate health and nutrition training to field staff and volunteers to build their capacity for proper program implementation.

• Conduct coordination meeting with Camp Management Committee to raise awareness of IYCF and BPHC activities in community.

• Make sure to conduct Referral coordination meeting with OTP, SFP program and mobile clinic to be smooth referral pathway.

• Responsible for stock management (i.e clean delivery kits, micronutrient tablets) and take a lead for Stock transportation to project areas not to be stock out in both field and office warehouse.

• Prepare, develop and submit detail BSFP distribution plan and monitoring plan to project officer for monthly distribution.

• Regular dealing with stakeholders for nutrition commodities transportation and storage processes

• Responsible for monthly BSFP distribution in assigned IDP camps through closely coordination with other staffs

• Check monthly distribution record (Form A) for assigned camps to project officer and MEAL team with precisely and timely manners

• Deal with finance team for taking advance and payment submission to implement field activities.

• Data collection, data checking and data follow up from field staffs, volunteers and make sure the records.

• Ensure the documentation of project activities and keep systematically.

• Submit Monthly activities report & Monthly stock report timely and precisely to Project Officer

QUALIFICATIONS

• Secondary school education (Matriculation)

• At least 1 year experience in related field (assistant level)

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

• Must be camp based staff

• At least 2 year experience of Maternatal and Child Care Programs, Nutrition Programs and BSFP program

• Able to communicate with Muslim, Rakhine, and Burmese languages

• Computer Literacy ( Microsoft Packages, Outlook, etc.)
