Organizational Setting

The project objective is to contribute to the national processes of strengthening family farmers in Brazil for poverty reduction and rural revitalization. The outcome is to implement differentiated policies and programs that improve the capacities of the national government, local and family farmers in areas such as ATER (rural extension and technical advisory services), Credit Programs, land access and governance, access to markets and the strengthening of cooperativism.

The incumbent reports to the Assistant Representative in FAO Brazil – Programme
Technical Focus
To subsidize the Department of Evaluation, Monitoring, Studies and Strategic Information – DAMEI/SE/MDA in the interpretation of the relationship between climate change and family farming, which permeate the challenges and vulnerabilities related to agroecology and environmental sustainability, unemployment, falling productivity, food supply and rural exodus, with a view to specific recommendations and positions that contribute to decision-making on the formulation and execution of public policies related to the proposed theme.
Tasks and Responsibilities
• Conduct bibliographic research and data collection;
• Prepare reports and data spreadsheets, in a format to be specified, relevant to the activities of this Term of Reference;
• Participate in meetings with representatives of the proposing entities, present the partial and final results of the products, upon demand of DAMEI/SE/MDA and provide the requested information and clarifications.
• Participate in workshops and meetings relevant to the preparation of the consultancy products, upon demand of DAMEI/SE/MDA;
• Subsidize and monitor the actions developed on the subject of consulting with the agencies involved.
• Provide the MDA with information and parameters regarding the topic pertinent to this Term of Reference.
• Prepare the Work Plan and the Products as established in this Term of Reference.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING:
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Sciences according to the CAPES/CNPq table of areas of knowledge;
• Minimum experience of 08 (eight) years in public policies aimed at the sustainable development of family farming. In case of having specialization and 06 (six) years of experience in the requested areas. In case of having Master’s degree and 05 (five) years of experience in the requested areas and in case of having a Doctorate and 03 (three) years of experience in the requested areas.
• Working knowledge (level C) of English, Spanish or Portuguese
• Brazilian Nationality or other legally authorized to work in Brazil.
