JOB SUMMARY:

This project is a collaboration with OCHA’s Campaigns Unit. In the lead-up to World Humanitarian Day and the Global Humanitarain Overview in the next 6 months, your designs will communicate the humanitarain situation in many crises countries OCHA works. Thematic content highlighting International Humanitarain Law, hunger, education, women’s rights, gender and others will also be included.

Through your designs, we aim to promote OCHA’s mission to highlight the significant humanitarian efforts, the UN and its partners play in supporting crisis-affected people, and the strength and resilience of affected people, aligning with support in crises. Your work will contribute to raising awareness of the importance of humanitarian work, why it should be funded, and the positive impact it makes.

We are searching for 4 skilled online volunteer with strong abilities in designing and creating illustrations to produce engaging social media cards. These cards will highlight the critical roles and contributions of humanitarain work, as well as the stories of people affected by crisis. Your responsibilities will include: Crafting visually appealing designs that embody resilience, empowerment and humanitarian efforts across contexts—and selecting and incorporating quote cards that epitomize resilience and hope in humanitarian roles. Crafting messaging and images to promote the respect of International Humanitarain Law for the World Humanitarian Day campaign, as well as for a new Underfunded campaign the office is launching. Working closely with our team to ensure that the designs are in harmony with our organization’s branding guidelines and communication objectives. Providing timely updates through email and participating in virtual meetings as necessary to discuss ideas, revisions, and the final product. Being available for a designated period around specified dates (to be communicated after selection) for receiving feedback and making any needed adjustments. The candidate will be asked to make up to 3 cards a day, for 2 days a week.

Candidates should have professional experience in graphic design with previous experience in designing document layouts, and must have in-depth knowledge of graphic design applications, as well as good verbal and written communication skills.
A degree in graphic design or related field is considered an asset.
