JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Background:

The Internal Communications consultant is located in the Communications and Advocacy section of the Strategic Partnerships Division. The consultant will report to the Senior Advisor, Strategic Partnerships and work very closely with the Internal Communications Analyst, supporting the provision of inputs to strengthen internal communications in UN Women, maintaining a range of strategic communications tools and products for UN Women, and for online and offline internal audiences in order to ensure that UN Women’s mission and vision, communication strategy, organizational outreach and knowledge management are effectively communicated to UN Women’s workforce.

Description and Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning, drafting, obtaining clearances and posting of relevant and engaging internal news content from across the organization on the intranet homepage and other internal platforms, in line with UN Women’s internal communication priorities;
  • Assist in maintaining, updating and monitoring UN Women’s intranet, including the internal events calendar;
  • Assist with the organization of key internal meetings, including townhalls, webinars and other events in collaboration with the relevant internal stakeholders;
  • Plan, draft, and obtain clearances for the UN Women bi-weekly internal newsletter, the Internal Update, as well as assist in the dissemination of the newsletter;
  • Monitor and collate analytics for the intranet and internal newsletter with a view to improving user experience and engagement;
  • Propose innovative ways to keep UN Women personnel informed and engaged on organizational priorities.
  • Other related duties and general administrative assignments as required.

Education:

  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in communications is required;
  • Experience in internal communications is required;
  • Experience working on issues of women’s rights and gender equality is required;
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (Sharepoint, MS Word, Excel, etc.) and spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web-based management systems is required;
  • Experience working in the UN System, or a large development agency is an asset.

Language:

  • Fluency in English is required;
  • Working knowledge of another UN official language (Russian, Chinese, Spanish, French and Arabic)  is a strong asset.
