Your team

Within the The European Green Sky Directorate, the Standardisation service (*) applies the EUROCONTROL standardisation processes, which involve developing and maintaining EUROCONTROL Standards in the form of specifications and guidelines. The service provides coordination between the Agency and other standardisation development organisations, such as the European Organisation for Civil Aviation Equipment (EUROCAE) and the European Standardisation Organisations (ESOs). It coordinates the use of EUROCONTROL’s Standards and of its stakeholders and assesses standardisation needs.

(*) Please note that the assignment of the Standardisation service will be subject to an organisational change within EGSD in the near future.

Your role

Your role will be to:

• Produce EUROCONTROL standards (i.e. specifications with technical requirements complying with regulations s and guidelines supporting harmonised deployment and providing guidance for specifications and operations) and other key deliverables associated with the aviation standardisation framework.
• Develop EUROCONTROL standards in close collaboration with corporate teams.
• Assess relevance and need for standardisation, through impact assessments.
• Deliver awareness training to internal and external stakeholders on standardisation subjects.
• Provide advice and recommendations on technical evolutions affecting aviation standardisation.
• Participate to projects, meetings, working groups, etc as needed.
• Carry out any other task in line with the main purpose of the job.

Required qualifications, experience & competencies

• Completed university studies of 4 years followed by 3 years of relevant working experience, or completed university studies of 3 years followed by 4 years of relevant experience.
• Internal candidates can check on the intranet to see what level of in-house experience is considered equivalent to educational qualifications where appropriate.
• Experience in producing technical specifications/requirements documents.
• Experience in Air Traffic Management (ATM).
• Experience in aviation operations or in airports domain would be considered an asset.
• Experience or knowledge of regulatory and/or standardisation-related processes; of the European/International standardisation and regulatory frameworks (i.e. ICAO, EUROCAE/RTCA, AEEC, ETSI).
• Technical writing skills in English.

• The working languages of the Agency are English and French. For this particular job, candidates must be proficient users of English at level C1/C2. The selected candidate will be required to become basic users of French at level A1/A2 before the end of the probation period.
  The levels relate to the European-framework-reference Common European Framework of References for languages (CEFR).

Useful information

• The selected candidate will be offered a contract of 5 Year (s) pursuant to the provisions of the Staff Regulations governing officials at EUROCONTROL. The contract may be renewed up to a maximum of 9 years or converted into an undetermined contract. Before being established in the post, the selected candidate will be requested to provide certified copies of their degrees and successfully serve a probationary period of 9 months.
• Internal candidates
  If selected, the person will keep their current type of appointment duration (undetermined or determined).
  The internal staff member with a determined contract will be offered, in principle, an appointment for 5 Year(s) with a maximum total duration of 9 years.
• The successful candidate shall be appointed at the grade set out in this vacancy notice, or if a group of grades has been published for a job level, in principle at the basic grade of the published job level.
• Candidates declared suitable who are not selected for the post will be placed on a reserve list for similar roles. The reserve list will be valid for one year from the closing date of applications.
