Junior Professional Associates – Program Description

The Junior Professionals Associate Program (JPA) offers an exceptional opportunity for recent graduates to embark on a professional journey, providing a three-year contract with valuable work experience within a diverse and dynamic environment and the potential of field work experience. Department Description – ITSBA

The Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) Business Administration Department (ITSBA) is a central pillar in the World Bank Group’s IT, responsible for managing the business of ITS. ITSBA serves as a strategic catalyst, navigating IT transformation, endorsing agile and lean methodologies, and sculpting the IT workforce blueprint. It champions stringent governance, proactive risk management, and unwavering compliance with policies and standards, while also ensuring meticulous financial oversight of IT resources.

ITSBA is the driving force behind organizational change and transformation efforts, instilling a culture of innovation and continuous learning. ITSBA is responsible for equipping the IT workforce with the necessary skills to address both present and future technological advancements and managing strategic sourcing and vendor management. The department encompasses several key areas:

Unit Description – ITSTM

The Transformation Management and Enterprise Change Management unit spearheads transformative efforts, starting with the adoption of agile methodologies across ITS and key WBG stakeholders. This unit serves as a centralized hub for strategic planning, execution, and monitoring of transformational initiatives within the ITS department at the World Bank Group.

Responsible for implementing Agile frameworks and supporting the establishment of structures that enable a dynamic, iterative, and people-centric approach, the unit conducts assessments of current ITS operations, processes, and structures to identify areas for improvement and optimization. By developing and implementing Agile frameworks, methodologies, and practices across ITS functions and teams, the unit enhances efficiency, flexibility, and responsiveness.

A key responsibility of the unit is establishing the strategy, principles, and model for the Lean Agile Center of Excellence (LACE). This initiative aims to standardize and promote best practices in Agile methodologies.

The unit provides strategic direction, coordination, and support for key VPU change initiatives. Its main objective is to ensure the smooth implementation of changes for WBG staff with minimal disruption to operations and maximum stakeholder buy-in.

Duties and Responsibilities

Position Overview: The JPA will be assisting the agile implementation within the IT department at the World Bank Group (WBG). This role focuses on fostering an agile mindset, assisting the successful adoption of agile practices, and facilitating continuous improvement across IT teams.

Agile Support and Coordination:

• Assist in the adoption and implementation of agile methodologies across IT projects and WBG teams.

• Support agile coaches and scrum masters in facilitating agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and reviews.

• Help prepare and distribute agile-related documentation and training materials.

Training and Development:

• Participate in developing and delivering training programs on agile principles, practices, and tools to IT staff.

• Support the creation of training schedules and logistics for agile workshops and sessions.

• Assist in maintaining training records and tracking participation.

Change Management Support:

• Assist in developing and implementing change management plans to support agile transformation.

• Help communicate the benefits of agile practices to team members and promote buy-in from various stakeholders.

• Support efforts to monitor and address resistance to change.

Performance Tracking and Reporting:

• Help establish and track metrics and KPIs to measure the success of agile implementations.

• Assist in collecting and analyzing data related to agile adoption and its impact on project outcomes.

• Contribute to the preparation of regular updates and reports for stakeholders on the status of agile transformation initiatives.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Foster collaboration and communication across IT teams and other departments.

Administrative Support:

• Provide administrative support for agile transformation activities, including scheduling meetings, coordinating logistics, and maintaining documentation.

• Assist in organizing and managing agile-related events and initiatives.

 

Selection Criteria

 

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Basic understanding of agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe.

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Familiarity with Organizational Change Management frameworks.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new methodologies and practices.

• Agile certifications (e.g., Certified Scrum Master) are a plus, but not required.
