Job description

 

GIZ’s Civil Peace Service (CPS) programme „Dealing with the past and shaping a future free of violence – strengthening non-violent conflict transformation approaches for sustainable peace in Nepal” aims at creating spaces for non- violent conflict transformation. It does so through support to dialogue forums, community mediation, Nonviolent Communication, conflict-sensitive media and theatre for conflict transformation. CPS endorses local actors to implement holistic approaches to Dealing with the Past (DwP) promoting justice, reconciliation, and healing. The DwP Team consists of two national and one international peace advisor and works with victims’ groups such as the National Network of Disabled Conflict Victims (NNDCV), the Conflict Victims Committee (CVC) Bardiya, and the Disappeared Citizen’s Memorial Park to enhance their capacities and to conduct meaningful memory work that fosters intra-personal and inter-personal healing. The DwP team also works with the women-led organisation The Story Kitchen by supporting storytelling, story writing and data archiving processes.

 

Your tasks

 

  • Enhance capacity of victims´ groups, partners organisations and other concerned stakeholders in designing and implementing initiatives on holistic approaches to Dealing with the Past
  • Support participatory approaches to storytelling, collection, documentation and editing
  • Support partner organisations in the process of collection, curation, analyzing, securing and archiving sensitive, victim-related data
  • Contribute to organisational and network development of partners
  • Co-design and co-facilitate workshops and trainings on memory work
  • Contribute to project management and strategic planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting
  • Contribute to a periodic context and conflict analysis and needs assessment of partners
  • Support the partners and the CPS programme in other related tasks such as public relations, administrative work, proposal writing, organisation of events and workshops, etc. as per request

Your profile

 

  • University degree in peace and conflict studies, social science, psychology, social work, or related subject
  • Well-founded knowledge and practical experience about concepts and methods of Memory Work and/or Peace Education
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with victims and survivors and their networks
    Knowledge about and experience of secure archiving of sensitive data
  • International working experience with civil society actors, specifically in conflict transformation and peacebuilding as an asset
  • Familiarity with project planning, monitoring and evaluation
  • Professional experience in a (post-)conflict context is of added value
  • Experience in designing, conceptualising, and facilitating trainings using innovative, creative and participatory methods
  • Fluency in English and the willingness to learn Nepali; German language skills are an asset
