GIZ’s Civil Peace Service (CPS) programme „Dealing with the past and shaping a future free of violence – strengthening non-violent conflict transformation approaches for sustainable peace in Nepal” aims at creating spaces for non- violent conflict transformation. It does so through support to dialogue forums, community mediation, Nonviolent Communication, conflict-sensitive media, and theatre for conflict transformation. CPS further works with local actors to promote holistic approaches to Dealing with the Past, that seek justice, reconciliation and healing. To strengthen local peace structures, the CPS Thematic Team ‘Dialogue and Conflict-Sensitive Media’ cooperates with partner organisations working in the fields of dialogue and media. This cooperation focuses on capacity building in conflict-sensitive media and communications in order to strengthen the expertise of partners APEC/Samagra and Media Action Nepal. APEC/Samagra are promoting intercultural dialogue for peace in Siraha (Terai region of Nepal) and Media Action Nepal are strengthening the role of media, youth and CSOs in peacebuilding. Further the CPS Advisor supports the CPS on programme level in (conflict-sensitive) media production and public relations.

• Conceptualise and develop ideas for impactful and creative usage of media for non-violent conflict transformation
• Capacity building of partners and stakeholders on conflict sensitivity, media literacy and promotion of conflict-sensitive media production
• Strengthen the internal and external communication of the CPS programme
• Support to strengthen knowledge management in close cooperation with planning-monitoring and evaluation advisor
• Capacity building and support of the partner organisations in knowledge management and resource mobilisation
• Identify needs of support to CPS partner organisations with regard to external visibility, in (conflict-sensitive) media production and public relations and provide support based on their needs
• Support and initiate networking and professional exchange of partner organisations and other peace organisations in the field of dialogue and conflict-sensitive media work in Nepal
• Identify potential new partner organisations and new geographical areas in the area of conflict-sensitive media and conduct project appraisal missions together with the national peace advisor

• University degree in peace and conflict studies, journalism, media, communication, social work, social science, development studies, or related field
• Expertise and practical experience in the field of media and conflict, e.g. conflict sensitive journalism/peace journalism, communications, and media literacy for conflict transformation
• Expertise and experience in resource mobilisation and knowledge management, with online media and digital communication tools and content creation
• International working experience with civil society actors, specifically in conflict transformation and peacebuilding is an asset
• Familiarity with project planning, monitoring and evaluation
• Professional experience in a (post-)conflict context is of added value
• Experience in designing, conceptualising, and facilitating trainings using innovative, creative and participatory methods
• Fluency in English and the willingness to learn Nepali; German language skills are an asset

GIZ’s Development Service is looking forward to applications of candidates with a professional qualification and / or university degree and at least two years of professional experience. In addition you hold the German nationality or the nationality of a member state of the European Union.
