RESPONSIBILITIES

The consultant will be responsible for the following tasks: 1) Coordination of the production of the web-based segment of WDR 2025: – Coordinate the development of the web-based segment of WDR 2025 and supervise the production of its different parts: format, layout, Power-BI functionalities, and substantive content on drug demand and drug supply; – Produce a development plan for WDR 2025 edition of the web-based segment and ensure the team adheres to it and implements it; – Coordinate the prepublication of the ARQ data; – Ensure all data and analyses of the web-based element of WDR 2025 are up to date, relevant and based on good methodology; – Ensure that content is produced on time and reviewed internally and externally; – Ensure all maps of WDR 2025 are reviewed by the Geospatial Unit of the UN Secretariat; – Supervise the team’s input into other WDR 2025 Special Points of Interest and Key Findings and Conclusions; 2) Production of the analysis on drug demand and health consequences for WDR 2025: – Cary out a comprehensive review of the literature, both scientific (published in peer-reviewed journals) and grey (national reports and other accessible publications), and of available data from international, regional and national institutions or organizations, including from the annual report questionnaire; – Develop an outline of the online segment of the WDR; – Analyse available data and produce global, regional and national estimates; – Produce a first draft of the charts, maps and tables to be included into the online segment of the WDR; – Develop a narrative for each topic to highlight key findings for the online segment; – Produce a final draft of the charts, maps and tables to be included into the online segment of the WDR as well as a final narrative for each topic to highlight key findings for the online segment; – Produce the text of the Key Findings and Conclusions on drug demand and health consequences; – Review and contribute to the text of the Special Points of Interest on drug demand and health consequences;

REQUIREMENTS

• An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in public health, epidemiology, sociology or a closely related field is required. A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. • Minimum of 7 years of experience in the field of public health, epidemiology, sociology or a related field with a track record of scientific publications on the subject, or contribution to published reports is required; • Good record of analytical work based on quantitative methods, preferably in drug use epidemiology, or public health is required; • Experience in managing datasets and in the use of statistical software and demonstrated analytical, research, writing and communication skills is required. • Excellent planning and organizational skills are required; • Experience of working in the field of drug epidemiology, in particular on drug use is desirable; • Experience in producing analytical publications according to UN standards is desirable;
Languages
• English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English, with excellent drafting and communication skills, is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.
