JOB SUMMARY

Protection Officer (Child Protection) will be responsible for support the implementation of the Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) activities and take the role of child protection case management supervisor to support the case worker’ s technical competence and practice, promotes wellbeing and enables effective and supportive monitoring of child protection case management in accordance with interagency case management guideline, SCI Step to Protection and SoPs. Ensuring that positive outcomes are achieved for children and families through the delivery of competent, sensitive, and timely services, and that the SC’s mission and goals are accomplished.

He/she will conduct regularly in case management coaching and supervision with to case worker (PA). He/she will work closely with Project Coordinator to ensure the effective delivery of all child protection activities and with the child protection team to ensure close links between case management, MHPSS and our work with the community-based child protection mechanism and six grave violation monitoring and reporting mechanism.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support caseworkers to implement case management, as per the Standard Operating Procedures and in alignment with the guiding principles and minimum standards of case management.
  • Supports the case worker’s technical competence and practice, promotes wellbeing and enables effective and supportive monitoring of CP case management office; Individual Supervision on a weekly basis for 1 hour for each case worker, Facilitate Case Management team meetings weekly, Conduct case file review weekly.
  • Monitor the documentation of cases through review of files and databases.
  • Ensure confidentiality and that data protection and information-sharing protocols are respected. Review and analyze trends in the caseload to inform programming. Delegate tasks to caseworkers, taking into consideration, caseworkers’ profile (gender, language, and communication skills).
  • Conduct caseworkers’ capacity assessment in line with the competency-based framework.
  • Assist PO and national Case Management advisor develop capacity planning to case workers.
  • Direct providing case management support to the high risk and complex individual cases where required and provide regular monitoring of all aspects of case management services.
  • Actively engage in all capacity building opportunities, including trainings, shadowing/observation of other, more experienced supervisors, capacity assessments of caseworkers as per skills needed and identified in competency framework.
  • Ensure access to material, logistical, and further technical support and set eligibility criteria for material and other support.
  • Ensure the safety of case management team within the communities they are operation including the provision of PPEs in times infectious diseases.
  • Ensure that case management team maintain an up-to-date service mapping for their geographical area.
  • Provide briefings on child safeguarding and appropriate behavior with children to all case management staff. Ensure any concerns are reported and addressed immediately.
  • Collaborate with MRM/GOSRCV focal and CPiE advisor to contribute to SC’s continued monitoring and reporting on the 6 grave violations against child rights.
  • Support PC and other CP colleagues on implementing the community-based child protection, MHPSS and awareness raising campaign as required.
  • Work closely with PC and produce monthly report or as requirement.
  • Any other tasks assigned by supervisor and manager.

REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree on psychology, social science, education, nursing, humanitarian, related or equivalent experiences.
  • At least 1 years of experience working in humanitarian aid, MHPSS and/or child protection, is an asset.
  • Experience working with partner organizations, is an asset.

  • Demonstrated skills and experience in implementing child protection programming including Case Management.
  • At least 3 years in implementing and working with children and youth, at least 2 years experiences of Child Protection Case Management.
  • Shows ability to plan, schedule, and direct the work of self and others.
  • High motivation to work under difficult circumstances and Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to communicate a clear vision, motivation and commitment to the safety and well-being of case workers.
  • Previous experience working for an NGO or other non-profit organization is preferrable.
  • Good interpersonal, communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexible work attitude: the ability to work productively in a team environment & independently.
  • Sets work schedules and caseload/workload standards that promote the effective and efficient use of staff and delivery of services.
  • Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values, and principles.

Skills and Experience:
