JOB SUMMARY

 

This consultancy of work is to support the Health Enabling Societies (HES) unit in finalizing a set of health equity profiles for selected countries in the Western Pacific Region; in planning for and implementing a regional health equity monitoring capacity-building workshop for the Pacific Island countries; and in ad-hoc data collection and analysis efforts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

By working closely with HES and WPRO technical units, the consultant will be responsible for providing high-quality technical support, to achieve the following outputs:

Output 1: Support HES in finalizing the content and design of WPRO health equity profiles.
Deliverable 1: A set of designed health equity profiles with accompanying data organized in an excel database.

Output 2: Support HES in the planning for, and implementation of a sub-regional health equity monitoring workshop for the Pacific Island Countries.
Deliverable 2: Package of workshop materials (including, but not limited to:  internal planning document, agenda, meeting report)

Output 3: Support HES in ad-hoc data related tasks, including, but not limited to, data collection, analysis and or documentation.
Deliverable 3: Package of HES-related micro-analysis and data sets.

REQUIREMENTS

Educational Qualifications:

Essential: First university (Bachelor’s) degree in social science.
Desirable: Training in public health or related field.

Experience

Essential: Minimum five years of practical experience in public health or related field including collecting and analyzing survey and administrative level data for health equity monitoring.
Desirable: Experience working with the World Health Organization on health equity measurement and monitoring. Experience in capacity-building among national and local stakeholders on health equity measures.

Skills/Knowledge:

Essential: Thorough understanding of basic health equity measures.
Knowledge of Western Pacific regional context including Pacific Islands.
Proficient in statistical software such as STATA, SAS or R, as well as in data visualization tools such as Tableau.

Languages and level required:

Essential: Excellent command of the English (both written and spoken) and effective communication skills.
