JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a talented individual to support the Senior Climate Finance Specialist at the AU Transformative Climate Finance program GRAP team. This role involves providing operational support for day-to-day activities such as quality assurance of climate finance strategies, preparation of events, creation of presentation materials, meeting arrangements, contract management, communication with consultants, and logistics support for senior staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducting literature reviews, data collection, reporting, and analysis on climate finance strategies, pathways, instruments, and mechanisms in developing countries.
  • Reviewing deliverables under the climate finance components and collaborating with teams, consultants, partners and stakeholders to support iteration process
  • Gather necessary information and input for documents.
  • Proofreading documentation prepared by specialists to ensure that documents are produced with clarity, accuracy and in compliance with guidelines.
  • Archiving reports, notes, contractual, and non-contractual documents in accordance with HQ rules.
  • Assisting in the organization of meetings, workshops, and other events.
  • Interacting with external technical consultants, experts, and international policymakers on various assignments.
  • Drafting letters and various technical contents as well as facilitating program communication
  • Preparing meeting minutes/notes and PowerPoint presentations.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants to the GGGI internship program must at the time of application meet the following requirements:

  • Enrolled in or recently graduated (within the last 12 months) from a Master’s or PhD program in economics, finance, business administration, planning, or a related field.
  • Understanding of the Climate Finance Landscape and UNFCCC mechanisms.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Eager to learn new skills through training.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration. Professional, motivated, and coachable.
  • Ability to analyze reports and requirements to effectively communicate concepts and proposed solutions.
  • Fluent in English; French is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in public administration, business administration, program evaluation, research methods, planning, or government.
  • Proven ability to use automated software like Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel for analysis and presentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at various levels within a complex organization, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to handle multiple complex assignments simultaneously under tight deadlines.
