JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to work with us in the Carbon Pricing Unit (CPU) in Seoul HQ to support the startup of the Carbon Transaction Facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The assignment will include the following but not limited to assisting the Deputy Head of Carbon Pricing Unit in:

  • Conducting research related to Article 6 and international carbon market development in GGGI member states, partner countries and globally.
  • Supporting CPU technical staff to review documents and conduct relevant research for Rapid Article 6 Readiness Needs Assessments for technical assistance design in priority countries.
  • Supporting the organization of virtual and in-person knowledge exchange events related to Carbon Pricing Unit activities.
  • Support CPU staff to coordinate with country and regional teams and to develop outputs in earmarked funded projects.
  • Organizing, version controlling & archiving documents in a systematic manner.
  • Attending relevant meetings, drafting minutes, and ensuring timely clearance and distribution.
  • The intern will belong to a diverse and professional environment and will benefit from mentorship, development of challenging professional tasks and daily basis interaction with other colleagues.
ELIGIBILITY

Applicants to the GGGI internship program must meet the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (final year), Master’s or PhD program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months.
  • Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Institute’s work.
  • Enthusiasm towards finding creative and long-lasting solutions to reduce climate change challenges.
  • Possess an excellent command of English.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Background in sustainability, environmental engineering, environmental economics, policy, or environmental law.
  • Understanding of the global climate crisis, global climate agreements (e.g., Paris Agreement) and the role of economic instruments to reduce it.
  • Academic, work, or personal experience of translating difficult technical concepts into understandable knowledge materials.
  • Ability to quickly understand complex issues, ready to anticipate and provide necessary support to the team leader and those who need support.
  • Creativity and initiative applied to knowledge sharing.
  • Strong command of written English (native level).
  • Able to work effectively with other teams of a high degree of cultural/professional diversity.
