This position is established to provide leadership, management and responsibility over the communications and campaigns department, in support of the function’s mandate to build and protect corporate reputation, in alignment with the national objectives of World Vision International Lao PDR (WVI-L). This role guides and directs a team that supports strategic and corporate communications through creative content development, media and public engagement and digital communications. This role will also ensure brand and messaging alignment across all corporate publications and collaterals produced by WVI-L, and position our organization as a partner of choice for child well-being and protection. The role will support development of quality communication products across all Community Sponsorship, Private and Grant funded programs. During a crisis or emergency, this role will support the National Director and Senior Leadership Team in emergency communications.

The PECC Manager provides leadership for WVI-L’s campaigns, in alignment with and support of World Vision’s national and global advocacy efforts.

This role reports directly to the National Director.

Develop and deliver on a Department Strategy and an Annual Business Plan which support functional and national objectives of WVI-L, in alignment with World Vision’s commitment to “Our Promise”. Lead team in the achievement of departmental plans through close collaboration with other departments, participation as a guest in the Senior Leadership Team meetings, monitor, review and report regularly for continuous improvement.

Be responsible for the following functional areas for WVI-L, deliver and/or develop/guide team to achieve desired outcomes, as required:

Brand & Content Development

  • Ensure production of high-quality creative content that speaks of the lives of children and the impact of our work; and sharing of content on necessary platforms including StoryHub
  • Ensure packaging of different content for marketing and fundraising, to suit the different audiences and donor requirements, and strengthen the suite of resources for Community Sponsorship product
  • Support other departments and field offices in developing creative content including for Advocacy Campaigns
  • Ensure 100% brand alignment of content produced including those produced at the field level
  • Provide creative input to content produced by the field and other departments

Reputation Risk & Emergency Communications

  • Ensure messaging for top ten reputation risks identified for WVI-L.
  • Ensure alerts, situation reports, updates and other emergency communication material are produced timely and shared on necessary platforms including StoryHub and WVRelief
  • Have communication channels open and active for Support Offices with the help of Regional Comms.

Executive Communications

  • Plan spokespeople training once in two years
  • Ensure talking points are updated, ready and validated before sharing
  • Rehearse and guide spokespeople prior to media interviews
  • Review messages developed for the National Director and Senior Leadership Team for their presentations that showcase WVI-L’s work especially to external stakeholders

Media Engagement

Advertisement
  • Ensure increased and improved relationship and engagement with media
  • Work closely with the spokespeople guiding them and making sure of their readiness to face interviews especially during a crisis

Digital Communications and Public Engagement

  • Ensure the development and execution of the social media strategy and plan
  • Support the incorporation of marketing and fundraising plans to the annual social media plan

Grant/NRD Communications

  • Ensure the execution of a well-designed Grant/Corporate Partnerships Communications strategy and plan.
  • Ensure positioning of the projects in media and in public to raise their profile.
  • Ensure the amplification of country-level initiatives and messages, for a greater share of voice and impact while increasing the level of recognition and positive perception of WVI-L.

Develop and implement country campaign initiatives focusing on nutrition, education and climate change in order to create a context where the most vulnerable children in Laos can thrive.

Support additional advocacy activities from programs and projects.

Ensure that WVI-L is aligned with and supporting World Vision’s global advocacy campaigns

Champion and facilitate skills development of both Communications staff and WVI-L staff to improve brand awareness and alignment, as well as functional performance and excellence.

Required Professional Experience, Education and Knowledge

  • At least 5-8 years experience in Communications
  • Experience in working with a humanitarian organization or involved in humanitarian work is an advantage
  • Experience developing and leading advocacy campaigns
  • Master’s Degree in media studies, journalism, mass communication, English, or Degree in related field with 5 years relevant work experience
  • Excellent skills and knowledge in creative storytelling
  • Excellent skills and knowledge in corporate communications, marketing and brand management
  • Excellent skills and knowledge on sensitivities related to country, cultures and ethnicities
  • Tested and proven skills in leading a multi-role team with clarity and results
  • Ability to switch on to emergency mode when required and do a quick change of priorities
  • Excellent oral and written (English)
  • Travel to the field is required
