Result of Service
Efficient and effective interaction and coordination with the RCO and UN teams, contributing to the successful implementation and monitoring of the UNSDCF in Iran.

Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Coordination: o Coordinate UN Country Team (UNCT) meetings and related events, surveys, and scorecards. o Facilitate the coordination and implementation of joint programmes, including organizing meetings, drafting consolidated narrative reports, and supporting the monitoring of activities implemented by UN Agencies. 2. Research and Analysis: o Produce statistical research and analysis on social development in Iran, identifying qualitative and quantitative trends in social capital and socio-economic indicators. o Conduct scenario modeling to support future and risk-informed programming. 3. Technical Support: o Provide advice on the UNSDCF development, including implementation and coordination for related events and workshops. o Provide methodological support to UNSDCF Results Groups and UN country teams thematic groups. 4. Reporting and Communication: o Assist in the preparation and delivery of briefings on socio-economic developments to the UN country team and the diplomatic community. o Contribute to the preparation of humanitarian and crisis management reports and notes of meetings. o Draft speeches and documents for the Resident Coordinator on topics within the expertise of the consultant. 5. General Support: o Provide high-quality minutes of internal RCO meetings and UN country teams meetings. o Assist the Resident Coordinator in additional coordination tasks, subject to availability.
Qualifications/special skills
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in sociology, social science, development, economics, and/or statistics. Relevant professional experience in research on vulnerable groups, livelihoods, and social capital. Experience in organizing and providing support for senior-level meetings and missions is desirable. Previous experience in the United Nations system is advantageous.
Languages
Fluency in English and Farsi is required.
Additional Information
Technical Analysis, Reporting, and Backstopping: • Statistics: Document and compile relevant statistics (qualitative and quantitative) on Iran’s social capital and socio-economic development trends. Identify statistical best practices for assessing indicator trends and structures. • Analysis: o Produce a social capital and socio-economic analysis template and provide regular reporting (working papers, briefs, one-pagers, etc.). o Undertake scenario modeling to identify structures of Iran’s context through various classification and regression estimations. o Conduct research on macro policies relevant to national socio-economic development targets and SDG frameworks. • Technical Backstopping: Provide consultancy/advisory support to the UNSDCF process, including drafting agendas, background materials, invitations, minutes, and compiling inputs as necessary. Coordination and Communication: • Facilitate the coordination and implementation of joint programmes, including organizing meetings and drafting consolidated narrative reports. • Assist in the preparation and delivery of briefings on socio-economic developments to the UN country team and the diplomatic community. • Provide high-quality minutes of internal RCO meetings and UN country teams meetings. Workshops and Training Sessions: • Conduct presentations and workshops along with relevant learning/training sessions as necessary. • Assist in the preparation and organization of events, including preparing talking points, background documents, speeches, and minutes of meetings. General Support Tasks: • Assist the Resident Coordinator in additional coordination tasks as needed. • Draft speeches and documents for the Resident Coordinator on topics within the consultant’s expertise. • Translate technical documents as required.
