JOB SUMMARY

 

TITLE: Child Protection in Emergency Assistant (CPiE)

CONTRACT TYPE: National

TEAM/PROGRAMME: Humanitarian Response

LOCATION: Mae Sot, Thailand (with frequent travel to border areas)

CONTRACT LENGTH: 8 months with possible extension

ROLE PURPOSE:

The CPiE Assistant is responsible for implementing child protection program in along Thai Myanmar border with frequent travel to the field sites. S/he will be responsible for prevention and response activities of the child protection program that include working with the community, psychosocial support activities, and case management. The CPiE Assistant will be expected to support child protection sectoral assessment, project planning, and coordination with other child protection actors. In most circumstances, the post holder will be expected to mentor and/or build the capacity of implementing community volunteers on the field.

Role Dimensions: The position will work closely with the Humanitarian team and Child Protection, CBOs and CSOs.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Program Implementation

  • Assist the Humanitarian team in the assessment of the living conditions of displaced children and participate in the development of appropriate responses to the needs of children.
  • Facilitate the involvement of children and the community (leaders and parents) in the Protection and Psycho-Social Support (PSS) activities and document the progress made.
  • Support (community volunteers) team and SCT social workers in the monitoring, verification of cases of children.
  • Follow-up on the preparation and implementation of the case action plan and home visit conducted by community volunteers.
  • Through working with the community volunteers identify unaccompanied and separated children in collaboration with Senior Social Worker and community leaders and ensure its safe
  • Organize and lead psychosocial support activities.
  • Assist and participate in the preparation of budget, work, and spending plans, and PR tracking to monitor the proper utilization of the budget and timely implementation of activities.
  • With support from the Humanitarian coordinator to ensure timely delivery of project activities
  • With support from the Humanitarian Coordinator, prepare and review timely monthly reports submitted by partners.
  • Ensure survivors of gender-based violence are timely identified and provided counselling and other appropriate response services.
  • Ensure relevant referral forms are in place, and implemented accordingly, and coordinate monthly meetings including, parent’s forum and child protection committee
  • Consistently update the referral pathway of project locations

Under the supervision of the Humanitarian Coordinator and support from Senior Social Worker in provide capacity to community volunteers and partners

• With support from the Humanitarian Coordinator and Senior Social Worker and assisting in advocacy activities related to Humanitarian Response

• Contribute to communications and media work as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Thai nationality
  • University degree or equivalent in social work, Social Science, development studies, or equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Having high integrity, commitment, and professional responsibility with child protection and GBV exigencies.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Team player with strong leadership skills
  • Able to be self-started and work in challenging contexts and fragile environment
  • Minimum one year in GBV and Child Protection work
  • Working knowledge of local languages

  • Ability to speak Karen and/or Burmese.
